Hi there,

I picked up lots of great tips from this board before I stayed at WDW in December. I thought I would let you know my thoughts about All Star Movies (it's an excerpt from my trip report)

If anyone has any questions I'll do my best to help :)

Overall impressions of All Star Movies

We loved it! Yes the rooms are quite small but we found them absolutely ample for the four of us and all our luggage (we had a lot!). The room was extremely clean and nicely themed. The furnishings are bold and brash and don’t feel deluxe in any way, but that is exactly what I had expected. The grounds were beautifully kept and the large Disney icons were a huge hit with the children as well as us! There are lots of little touches all round the resort that act as a constant reminder that you are on Disney property.

We thought the reception area was great; there was a lovely big TV screen showing Disney movies and this kept the girls entertained on several occasions (including one when we had to post a parcel and it took over an hour for the CM to work out how to do it!). The shop was every Disney fan’s merchandising dream with a great selection of toys, games, clothes, plushes and all the other bits and pieces you expect in a Disney shop. There were lots of sweets, cookies and crisps and the like and they also sold small bottles of spirits behind the counter. We were very happy with the cocktails served at the pool bar! The food court had a pretty good selection and was a reasonably pleasant dining experience – far superior to a similar set up in the UK but obviously it is cafeteria style. We thought the prices were reasonable – not as cheap as going offsite but you could easily feed a family of four for one meal for $25 or so. The refillable mugs saved us an absolute fortune! The girls gave the arcade a big thumbs up. We thought the pools were great - unfortunately we didn't get the chance to enjoy them much due to the weather!

We found the bus service excellent. The longest we waited was twenty minutes – unluckily for us that was on a cold and windy night! But apart from that time, I think we waited for under ten minutes for every other journey. I wish our local bus service - which allegedly follows a timetable but often fails to show up - was as good! It felt like a luxury to not have to drive and it is ideal when you consider how close to the parks you get dropped off and picked up. We did have to stand a few times, but it’s not like it is ever a long journey!

Overall, and bearing in mind the price we paid to stay here, the resort was even better than our expectations had been. Massive thumbs up from us.

Thanks for the pixs. We plan on staying at ASM in Sept. for the first time!
Thanks again! :earboy2:

Glad you had a nice time. I stayed at ASM last time and was really satisfied. The way I look at it is, my family won't be in the room much anyways so why pay for something nicer. I might upgrade sometime down the road but as of now with DD4 DD1, they like the big toys all around them. :)

We are going to be staying at ASM in July. I am taking DS-29, DDIL-29, DGS4,DGS9 and DGD7. This will be our first trip to WDW and I am footing the bill for 2 adjoining rooms at ASM. I have been worried about the rooms until I read your post and saw the pictures. Thank You so much. :earsgirl:

I took my ten year old grandaughter there last year. She loved it. The main pool was closed when we were there for refurbishing, but the other pool was great. The rooms were great (we didn't spend much time in there anyway) and clean. The food court and gift shop were wonderful. We are staying at Pop Century this September (with another two grandkids in tow).

We are staying at Movies in Sept. and looking forward to it. I have booked two rooms and requested adjoining (was told those go to other requesters first-parents with younger kids, etc-first). We will be on the same grounds so even if we aren't in the same bldg won't be a big deal. DS 22 and best Friend 21 would probably perfer not to be near me and DS 8 (can't cramp anyones style ya know).

DS8 picked AS Sports last March and we had a great time there, he was a bit disappointed that we weren't doing that one again, but this is DS22's birthday trip and since we have to do a Value, he wanted Movies.

Thanks for the pics the more the DS8 sees pics the more he is wanting to stay here now. :Pinkbounc

When did they put the fence around Woody? We all took pictures sitting almost on his lap in 1999 -- hmmm, no wonder they put a fence around Woody!

Thank You So Much for posting your GREAT pictures. DH & I are planning our trip in Aug/Sept & have booked AS Movies. DD4 has been asking to see pictures, so now she can see them!!!

Thanks for all the great pics and review. Were going in may and was a little worried about staying there. You have really eased my mind. Thanks!
