Review for The Fairfield Inn

Nice review. We like the Fairfield and tend to stay there when we're not onsite since we're also Marriott Reward point fiends. ;)
The only time I dragged my mom to Disneyland to help with the DS1 at the time though, she kept sighing about it not being "a real Marriott" (ie. Courtyard or Marriott). She doesn't like the outside corridors but never called it a motel. Agree w PP that motel v hotel are designations that don't really suit well to resort areas like Anaheim, Orlando, Hawaii, etc.

We haven't stayed there but I do have access to Marriott/Hilton discounts. We if we couldn't get into the GCV, I'd give it a whirl. We have friends who won't stay at any other off-property hotels. The love the Fairfield Inn. :thumbsup2

We've stayed at the Fairfield a handful of times over the years. It has always been clean and comfortable. Nothing fabulous, but no probs. Just make sure you don't get a room near the main lobby doors. People drive up all night, talking loud and blaring their radio as they are parked in front to check in. That happened our last stay there, and even though it was a prob that can be fixed by requesting a diff area, we never stayed there again. We decided to try HoJo and love it more. Building 2 is so quiet, and I like the inside corridors. We also request the bigger rooms without a balcony. Lots of space for the five of us. I hate the longer walk tho. At night I wish we were at the Fairfield.

We are big Marriott fans = thanks for the nice review!

Also, in the Phoenix/Scottsdale list of resorts - and there are LOTS of them, they almost all have outside direct to the common area openings rather than
enclosed hotel like corridors. I have stayed in seven or eight over the years and have found this to be the case. These are very high end golf-type places.

:hippie:

Do the standard rooms still have a couch that makes into a double bed? I wondered with the reburbished room if they were still available. Thanks

I like these kind of reviews where there's actual, real pictures to see what the property looks like. Too many times the photos listed on the website, expedia, etc, don't match what the hotel looks like in reality.

I have seen some good air/hotel package deals on travel websites over the years with this hotel and this review with pictures was helpful. Thanks.

Thanks for your detailed review. My family of 5 stayed at the Fairfield Inn for 4 nights in October 1998 - shortly after it became a Marriott property. I think we paid $42/night back then!

I have been back to Disneyland 4 times since 1998, but I stayed at hotels I got on Priceline for less money than what the Fairfield charged. Our last Priceline stay was at the Red Lion Inn on Harbor Drive in May 2010. It was nice, and within walking distance of the park. When checking rates for my September 2011 solo trip, I wasn't interested in paying $119 to stay at the Fairfield Inn, and booked the AAA Red Lion Road Trip rate (for stays through Sept. 30) @ $101.50 for the first night, $76.50/night for subsequent nights, including breakfast and a $50 cash card: http://redlion.rdln.com/HotelLocator/HotelOverview.aspx?metaID=81

Hi, the refurbished King rooms still have a sofa couch/bed. They're a lovely jade green now. :)

My standard room (two years ago) had a chair that folded out into a (very small) single bed (perfect for a 6-9 y/o). ..... but NOT a couch into a double bed.

Kittyskyfish indicates that her king room had the couch/fold out double bed.

Anyone else want to double confirm the standard room vrs. king room "fold outs"....for those reading & planning?

:)

I was in a standard room, and it was a large chair that folded out to be a single bed. Definitely not a double, but good enough for a 5th person!

We usually stay at the FFI. We like it. We were 'upgraded' to a Disney-themed room both in April and the end of June. Both times we ended up in the Pirates of the Caribbean themed room!

The carpeting is new. The TV is a new, large flat screen. There's some new bedding, new wallpaper border, and new pictures. Otherwise our room was the very same as the rooms we have had on other visits.

We will be staying there again. On site is too expensive for our budget. We've stayed at The Castle Inn (UGH! I do not recommend it.) and farther off site but we didn't like the drive. My husband does a lot of traveling for work so he has some kind of status with Marriott which gives us perqs (like the free upgrade) so we keep coming back to FFI.

See the thing across the end of the bed? The rooms we get have two beds plus the small chair that converts into a bed. (And we've never had to pay $20 for bedding for it, and we use it every time! That's just strange.)
