I have never been to Universal at all, been plenty of times to wdw, but never Univ or Ioa. My hubby seems to think that all the rides there are simulated rides, including the mummy ride. Could someone please explain it to me.

Thanks
Kim

I have been on the mummy several times and no it is not a simulated ride it is a indoor coaster ride.

No, there are very very few simulator rides. The Simpsons and Jimmy Neutron are simulator rides. Those are the only "standard" simulator rides at either park.

Spiderman has simulator elements but it's much much more than that.

The Mummy contains real tombs, egyptian artifacts, real fire, and a real mummy in a highly themed dark ride with rollercoaster elements.

How intense would you rate this roller coaster in comparison to the ones at wdw??

Thanks

I think it's pretty intense considering the ride elements...but I couldn't really compare it to anything at WDW. About the only thing that's similar is the launch...like RnRCoaster but that's about it. It's not a very long ride but it's pretty exciting.

Mummy starts out slow...because of the 'show' part...then, the coaster part. You can see it if you search youtube for it ;)

IMO it isn't as intense as RnRC and pretty smooth. It also has no loops, just a launch and fast turns

haha Rockin Rollercoaster made my eyes water.

The Mummy is a little more like Expedition Everest than Rockin Rollercoaster, imo.

I'd say the closest coaster to the Mummy is EE. The Mummy is a fast, fun, top notch coaster with some awesome theming - not to be missed!

Hmmm... I understand the comparison of Mummy to EE, but to me t's a lot less intense and big coaster-like, if that makes any sense. My DH will not go on most roller coasters, including EE, but he enjoys Mummy a lot. He says (seriously) that he thought Space Mountain was more intense than Mummy! So if you're uneasy about going on big coasters, don't let that keep you from riding Mummy.

wow. thats interesting. I guess Ive been going on Space Mountain for too long & it doesnt phase me anymore. lol

I'm not really into roller coasters at all, I have ridden space mountain and RnRc at WDW but not EE yet. I guess everyone has their idea of it's intensity and it's comparison. I about died on RnRc. Not sure if Mummy is for me but Hubby will love it. Thanks.

The biggest roller coaster chicken here

I loved the Mummy!!!! I think alot has to do with the fact that it is in the dark and I can't see the tracks and get the visual perception of height to scare me out of my mind (does that make any sense?)

I am uneasy on the Flying Unicorn :crazy2: :scared:

So give it a whirl - you might like it.....it does not have loops like RnR, it has a fast launch and wicked curves, but its over very quickly, so you should be ok :thumbsup2

Thanks for your insight, can you tell me does it have any huge sudden drops?? That is really the only thing I really hate on the rollercoasters.

No it really doesn't have any sudden huge drops just really fast turns and really dark parts but great ride cause I am a coaster chicken too but ROTM I love and try to ride it as much as I can when we are there. :thumbsup2

The biggest drop is not even 30'. That's TINY in rollercoaster standards.
