Revenge of the Mummy... Hmmm

Thank you for all of the great information! I think if I can handle Splash Mountain, I can handle Revenge of the Mummy. I'll be sure to post back and tell everyone how I fared. OP ... Please share your experiences, too! :goodvibes

SO MUCH FUN! I rode the Mummy four times in a row with my friends (we ended up with a great picture all making the 'home alone' face :rotfl:)

But what I love about this ride even more is the employees working it!!
They're so great they've gotta keep a straight face, so we would blow them kisses and they'd tell us we're doomed and make that sort of hand gesture across the throat like 'you're dead' and even sneak up behind us after we were seated it was so much fun.

And when we got off the ride, the guys there were just so energetic, like "WASN'T THAT SO MUCH FUN?!" and "HEY ITS YOU AGAIN!"

One time I was even leading the way through the line with my friends (and there really was no line at all) but I ran around a corner and got scared half to death by an employee who gave me a fast pass- type thing because I was the first person he scared that day!! :rotfl: Then he gave me a high five.

If not for the ride, I'd get on it over and over again just because I love the people who work at that ride. Maybe I just showed up on a good day, but I thought it was great fun!! :goodvibes

Ok, so I just watched it WITH and WITHOUT lights on... Um... Uh... I dunno 'bout this... Oh Lord.

I am totally a roller coaster chicken but Revenge of the Mummy is absolutely my most favorite ride. I rode it back to back 5 times. It is AWESOME!!!!:woohoo:

I am scared to death, but I'll be riding it in about a week. :upsidedow ...have to- the students said if I don't return next school year with a photo of me on it, I'll have to deal with their taunting all year! :rotfl2:

Have to say I use to be so scared to ride coasters but after riding the mummy for the first time in 2005 I love it and its not a vacation to me if I don't ride the mummy and it also gave me the courage to ride the other coasters :thumbsup2

I also don't like drops and I never did Mummy last time as I could not see the ride to see if there were any drops. I have also watched the clip on YouTube with lights on and decided I will do The Mummy this time. Good luck. ;)

The Hulk and Dragon Challenge I am fine with. Sudden drops to me is Tower of Terror so can cope with most rides except that one. Did not enjoy it one bit.:sad2:

I'm a huge ride chicken. I can hardly even look straight on at The Hulk and I thought the last drop of Ripsaw Falls was horrifying. That being said, I loved The Mummy. The theming was great and I don't remember any bad drops.

We are huge roller coaster fans. I have to say without the theming and the dark it would be a kids coaster. I ride it for the theming only. In reality it's whimpy, I actually think RNR at Disney is more adult friendly.

As a coaster fearer I would not recommend a dark coaster. It's easier for a person to face their fears in reality then to not know what's coming or how far down it is. These people would not ride say Tower of Terror or Dr Doom either. Though I wouldn't ride Dr. Doom, just don't enjoy it. I didn't care for the Hulk I thought it was very jerky on my neck.

I certainly think you can handle Mummy, it's the dark factor that concerns me.

However, if you face your fears you'll usually find they are unwarranted.

One of my favorite things to do is take a fear off my list..,.,.

It's like getting a shot the anticipation hipes up the reality making it seem far more worse than it really is.

Good luck

Not even. The biggest drop is less than 30 feet.

For comparison purposes, JP's drop is >80, Ripsaw's is 75, Rockit's is >150, Hulk and Dragon Challenge are >100.

Jurassic Park's drop is >80 FEET??! WOW! Suddenly I am SO proud of myself!!! :rotfl2:

Complete opposite here. I *was* thinking of try Jurassic Park, but now I'm scared! I had no idea the drop was that high! I dunno... I haven't even done Splash Mountain yet.

But I am going to do Mummy! :thumbsup2

I am a huge wimp and I rode it twice. My daredevil dtr rode RnRc and the mummy and she says the Mummy is really easy compared to RnRC

I agree! I stopped riding RnR years ago because of the headaches it gave me. Last year we went to US/IOA for the first time and we must have ridden THe Mummy well over a dozen times. The Mummy reminds me alot of the Indiana Jones ride at Disneyland.

HTH

I would actually compare it to Space Mountain, but shorter. I am a ride chicken and the drops felt about the same to me, just enough to start to get that heart in your throat feeling before you are at the bottom. The launch bothers me more than the drops, but then I don't do well with any g-force.

Which one are we talking about now? If you tell me Mummy, I'm going to cry.

I like RnRc MUCH more than space mountain- I just can't face the fear I have on that initial start-up. I heard the Hulk is the same start-up... just shooting you straight up. (yeah, that another one I'll never do.)

Not a launch like RnRC; this one is pretty tame in comparison I've been told(never rode RnRC). I believe there are only three drops on ROTM and they are similar to the drops on Space Mountain. The roller coaster part only lasts about 45 seconds, maybe less.

I find all the coasters in both universal & disney to be fun, especially like the theming at US/IOA. for a real hoot, try just looking at Kinda Ka (six flags,nj) did night then day....thats a coaster to think twice about. Cant think of any coasters in either parks to worry about to much
