Has principal construction on the ride been completed? The reason I ask is that my son and I were there yesterday and as we were leaving they were setting up a banquet and stage right in front of the ride and the tables were decorated with Pyramids and Mummy figures.

We also saw a lot of people wearing USF/USH shirts that were all the same style.

I wonder if they got the first "ride"?

I heard that soft openings could start in five weeks.

Any word on an AP holder's preview? I would love another excuse to go again...

Please keep us updated on this! I would LOVE to go to the soft opening.

Bob Gault was in the park yesterday, so that could perhaps be related.

What is a soft opening?

Do they open up the gates for everyone soon after it, or what?
If it is being "soft opened" in 5 weeks does that mean it will be open for March/April time?

your optimistically

He's the head of Universal Orlando. Hey rocketman, did you get any "secrets" out of Mr. Gault? :)

A soft opening means that hours could be shortened, there could be technical things still being worked out, training is going on, etc. etc. But, people are riding, although it may not be perfect!!!!!!!

And the soft opening will not be advertised, but spread around through word of mouth. There will be no guarantees that it will be opened when you go as they are still working out any glitches. I can't wait, but I have to until August.

NOBODY has been on the ride yet. The staff isn't even cleared to be in the building yet. The attraction is almost 100% complete, though. Those of us who were selected to be on the Mummy crew will be getting pulled/trained in the next few weeks. And the ride has to be cycled a certain number of times by trained staff before anyone can ride it. And the opening crew gets first ride(s). :teeth:

I can't wait. This will be attraction #3 that I've opened. I just need to buy parts one and three on DVD...

Oh yeah, express is NOT valid during soft opening/technical rehersal.

Not to take away from USF employees; don't you think the ride designers are the most qualified?

Are you saying that this is really part 2???

The Mummy Staff is rumored to start training at Hulk this week. I was in the park today and I looked through the window of Safari Outfitters and its been completely cleared out. So I guess if they're focusing on the shop now, the ride must be done.

Yes, but the ride still has not reached the necessary numbers. It's a safety issue.

And what I meant was that I need to buy the Mummy and the Scorpion King on DVD, as I just got the Mummy Returns. :) Best Buy didn't have either Mummy or SK in widescreen format.

Draculus-The Leads are training at Hulk. I've heard so many variations of what's going on, it's insane. I've heard that some of the staff will be trained at MIB if they aren't already, as well as Hulk (possibly). Mad-ness! Lucky for me, I'm Hulk trained already. :)

DM, are you recently Hulk trained? Where else are you trained? Just trying to figure out your identity before I know you are on mummy... ;)

I'm dying to know about this one! We will be there 4 weeks so maybe I'm a bit optimistic : )

If anyone hears or sees anything let me know.

Not "recently" but within the past 2 years, yes. I've also been trained at: all of Seuss, JPRA, Doctor Doom, and Storm Force. Plus a few various positions at other attractions in both parks. ;)

I know! I know! But I'll never tell.... I've been sworn to secrecy!

We will be staying for 12 days at the Hardrock in August and I am curious what kind of ride is the Mummy-is it a rollercoaster?
Lori

Yes. No.

It has rollercoaster parts and dark ride parts. It's going to be amazing.
