Revamped Virgin Economy Meals

This looks quite nice - I wonder if any of that £100m investment went into making the food taste any better?!

I wonder if the welcome cocktail is served before you take off?!

"non slip meal tray which is a third smaller than the current tray giving you more space on your table."
Probably means a third smaller meal :goodvibes

Rather eat a proper meal before boarding.

We had this on our way out on 19th oct and dont think much of it really

Prefer the choc ice as the ice lollys were rock hard and meant to be ice cream

Smaller trays were ok but portions seems smaller!

Loved the love hearts on landing though

Doesn't seem like they've changed the food, just the plastic they serve it in...?

Eat at the airport.

erm....non slip smaller tray, improved plastic cutlery, a purple glass (bets its plastic) with a twizzle stick, a solid rock like (it was that hard two weeks ago) ice cream and some LoveHeart sweets...whoop whoop..:)

Personally I'd have preferred it if they had let us have the option of paying less for the flight and doing away with the dreadful food that is delivered on the improved plastic tray:confused3

Like a PP said...eat at the airport before hand and bring snacks on board with you. :)

Looking foward to the improved planes though, that can't be a bad thing as the 747's from Gatwick are looking a tad tired inside.:thumbsup2

When I travelled out in Feb 2011 we had the love hearts on landing and the choc ices came round halfway between dinner and the sandwiches, the dinners do look smaller, but is that because they have taken the dessert off, the GU chocolate dessert we had was lovely, dark choc with raspberry couli in the base.:goodvibes

The Feb offerings were the old menu, as it was in August when we flew, I believe choc ices have now gone. The new menu has only just been launched. As you say though the Love Hearts have been given for a while now.

I guess the Glasgow flights must be a bit different... I flew with VA in 2001 and again in 2010 (April last year), and all flights were fine... no complaints. I thought we were looked after perfectly well.

Considering altitude makes your taste buds go all funny, I think the meals taste fine too. My only gripe is not getting a decent pud with the veggie meal, for some reason they think you'd rather have fruit than chocolate! :rotfl2:

Mind you, I have NEVER been offered a choc ice or ice cream... We'll see what happens in September next year!

You must have better caterers up there in Scotland!:) But you are right about the Vege option. I pre order this for my DH and he always gets the fruit instead of some sort of GU Pudding (which they no longer do anyway). I never pre order my vege meal because that way you get what everybody else is having but just ask for the vege option instead, both of which were VERY VERY bad in Ocotber.

I really liked the chicken and stuffing sandwich we had on our flight out in mid October. :thumbsup2

Came home Tuesday. They gave us a menu with the offerings, pasta or braided beef in red wine sauce with mash n veg. Wasnt bad, sweet was a small cheesecake pot with ameretto and hot chocolate was the last run before they cleaned up. Staff were fine and attentive, we got the new films on the 1st which was good with the A333 jam ife. Brekky was a jam croissant, yoghurt, orange juice and hot drink.
