Reusing a Magic Band ?

If someone has an old band they'd like to send me... I'd like to use it for unlocking the dragon in Disney Infinity. REUSE! We're staying offsite in December and won't be getting band

Do you have to have the actual band or a code off of it or what?

I'll have my blue (favorite color) and a Disboard Green.

Someone on the thread about blinging your MB used nail polish and glitter coat to bling thiers Purple. I'm not a fan of purple myself but it was really awesome looking. She tested and it totally worked. Someone else got the red band and Minnie Mouse polka dotted it.

Kinda makes you want extra bands.

I am pretty basic so I'll probably be happy with the two. I'm really tempted by the gray MB of shame...LOL cause I actually really like grey, but I don't like a lot of colors so if I have to go beyond grey or red, I'm going to be in trouble. I'm not a fan of orange, yellow, or pink.


However if I was a bling kinda girl I'd totally be accessorizing those extra bands with nail art.

Just a quick update question on this.... Want to re use my magic bands for our trip this September. We're staying at the dolphin and I have already purchased 14 day disney tickers and linked these to our mde account along with the dolphin resort reservation. So will our magic bands work to enter the park at the turnstile on day one? Or do we have to somehow register them or are 14 day tickets first?

I know what you mean. We just customized our third set for our third trip.

Think about the people who do split stays and travel to Disney often. They could end up with dozens of MB's!

We already have. Everybody in my family basically has one in every color. At least we can color-coordinate in the morning!

We have done three trips with MBs, and have done split stays on most of these trips, but we just order one set of bands per trip. If you don't customize them, they don't ship, and the initial band works at all of the resorts we visit. Up to now, we would have been eligible to receive 7 sets of MBs + 6 more by August!

If you have valid tickets linked to your MDX account, and your magic band is active (it can only be deactivated by you) then you can use that band to enter the parks.

Well since I started this thread I have now added more MB's.


I went in the spring and loved it. I did however end up with....an AP.

My nephew's basketball team is making a run for Nationals held in July in...ORLANDO. In fact at WWoS. We will be offsite but I do plan to make a few hours on a couple of days to go to the world.

Then we decided to scrap the Hawaii trip (which go figure is now tentatively back on) and go to WDW in October. If I don't go in October I will be going in Feb as I will have the band good until March 2 and the ticket is a big chunk of the price of the trip.

So with the possibility of multiple opportunities I decided to go ahead and get an AP. I know have a blue, a green (actually the second green as the Yeti ate my first one and I had to get a replacement at AK), and a Blue AP band.


I really like blue and if I'm stuck with one color for the next few trips I prefer blue. I also got a 2014 slider which was nice.

I so far haven't been offered a band for my Oct reservation (since I have no ticket assigned to it other than my band).

You definitely can keep and reuse your old ones. We did just that last month. I think people are troubled because it's an automatic thing at Disney to just have people get new ones every time they go, and there doesn't seem to be an option to respond with "I already have one and don't want a new one." That's what happened to us--we had gray bands waiting for us, although we just told them that we were going to use our old ones. They made sure they were active and we were off and running. I suppose one could try calling WDW to tell them to cancel the order, but I am not sure I would want to risk something else getting messed up by doing that.

I suppose one could try calling WDW to tell them to cancel the order, but I am not sure I would want to risk something else getting messed up by doing that.

There is no need to call. Just don't customize the bands. Then, when you arrive and they present you with the uncustomized, gray bands just refuse them. They will recycle them and use them for another guest.

Okay well I now have a red one ordered.

I have (or will have) 5 by our trip in July . I already have 2 from previous resort trips, 1 AP and I will be getting 2 more for my July trip becuase we are doining a split stay at a different resort since are now coming in one day earlier.

So all 5 can be mixed and matched on different days and all of them can open my resort door, get me into the parks and allow me to charge every day of my trip?

All bands can be used interchangeably. You can wear a different one of your bands every day and they will all function the same (room key, park entry, FP return, purchasing, etc).
