Just wanted to share our Girl Scout Bronze award project. We are making reusable snack and sandwich baggies and all the proceeds from sales will go to buying games, coloring books, crayons, etc., for the playroom at the pediatric unit at the hospital.

We had our first test of the market at the Vertical Concert last Tuesday. We made $86. People were very receptive to the idea.

They are really cute!

Rebecca

Thanks! They're all lined with rip stop nylon, which is waterproof and all the seams are hidden, so no food can get in there and get yucky. They are machine washable and can go in the top drawer of the dishwasher too ;)

those turned out cute! hope your sales go through the roof!!!

Those are TERRIFIC!!! Love the idea, and they're SO cute!!

Thanks, everyone! The girls are very proud. They had a *little* help with sewing...But they are very pleased with the results.

Those are adorable and it's nice that they are either washer or dishwasher safe! Bonus!! ;) Good luck with the sales.. The girls did a wonderful job and will be doing a wonderful service for the pediatric unit at the hospital.

They look great! My crunchy cousin makes these along with baby slings and cloth training undies. They are really great to have!

That is such a fantastic idea!!! Of cours if I made them they'd be a bit of an odd shape:rotfl2: I might suggest it to our PTA as a fundraiser:thumbsup2

They are really easy to make. I did a whole bunch of them one day in about 2 hours. We got the idea from one of the girls whose mom had bought some on Etsy. I looked it over and figured out how to make them (I made a couple as test ones) and then finally got all the seams hidden. There are schools here that are entirely green. Kids can't bring in anything that can be thrown away, so this is a way to bring in your snacks without using a plastic container. So, we are helping the environment AND donating to the hospital :)

that is an awesome project. We are going to start working on our silver award. I think your girls will get so much out of that project. We just started working on the Amaze journey and let me tell you that my girls have surprised me with how well they work together.
Great job.
Can't wait for cookies to be done. Are you doing the sale now or do you do it at a different time?

Also my dd wants to buy one and I will show them to my girls and I am sure they will help and buy some. I will pay for shipping so just let me know how much they are. My daughter said she wants one and she wants to help her sister girl scouts with their project. PM me the info

Where do you get the rip stop stuff? I would love to borrow your idea and make some reusable bread bags. I make homemade bread almost weekly and it seems such a waste to use plastic bags!

We are doing cookies too. At our first "sale" of the baggies we asked for donations...we did not sell them. I'm on day 6 of cookies being here in my house. I emailed everyone on Saturday, had 4 people that day...still waiting for the rest.

Anyhow...I'm happy to send one to your daughter, would she like snack or sandwich size? How sweet of her to want to help out :) PM me your address.

We got it at Joann's. It comes in a few different colors. It's over near the utility fabrics section.

Love, love, love them! So cute and such a great idea! That could also be a good fund-raising project if the school needs one.

When Grace's troop did the Bronze award last year they made signs for West Hill Dam over in Uxbridge. So if you are ever over there and see Anime-type girls in drawings then they are Grace's. :) She dropped out of scouts this year and I miss it as I went a lot and took pictures. I miss World Thinking Day as it was almost like being at EPCOT.. ;)

Hope things are better with your family. (I am taking three pre-teen girls to the mall today - wish me luck!!)

Oh, we're camping at West Hill Dam in June! I'll be sure to look for them :)

Good luck at the mall. You and about a bazillion others are going to be there!
