Returning Vehicle Late with Alamo

A few months ago, I scheduled a reservation with Alamo for my upcoming trip in May at a savings of over $300 compared to current rates :banana:. Not really thinking about it, I scheduled the reservation to match the flight times that Airtran had at that time due to forgetting that they often change. So my current rental is scheduled for pickup in Tampa on May 27th at 12 pm and its scheduled to be dropped off at MCO at 6 am on June 4th. When I did this, my reservation shows I am being charges for 1 week at $189.00 and 1 day at $31.50.

Now it looks like Airtran is changing up flight times for my departure date and have completely removed my early morning flight :mad: . There are only two flights left that I would want to change to due to long layovers of the others that day, one leaving at 10:45 am and another leaving at 7:02 pm.

My questions are since they are already charging me for the full extra day, If I return the vehicle before 12 pm of June 4th, will I be charged for an extra day, and If I return the car after 12 pm will they only charge me for an extra day or will there be other fees?

From my understanding, if you return before noon on the 4th, it's very unlikely you'll see any additional charges. If you return after that, expect to be charged an additional day at whatever the current prevailing rate is plus all taxes and fees.
 
Always get permission before returning a car late.

Otherwise late fees not mentioned in the custom print (extra day, etc.) on the front of your rental contract may be charged.
 
I would EMAIL Alamo Customer Service. Explain the situation like you did here and ASK what the charges would be. Don't rely on anyone's experience here because it could totally be different. That way whatever answer they give you will be in writing so if there is an issue after you return the car you could pull out email from Alamo CSR and say this is what I was told.

You call also call and see what they said, then email and ask them to verify what you were told on phone. People here will give all different answers and you never know. Picking up the phone or typing an email will get you the answer that is correct in your situation.
 

On Alamo's website, I believe that you can edit your ressie and it will show any price changes. You can agree to the changes or re-think your options.

I called concerning our reservation. They said anything past 29 minutes counts as extra time. I explained we only needed an extra 1-2 hours and they adjusted the reservation (adding an extra hour)at no charge. Trying calling.
 
Thanks everyone for your replys. I did an instant chat with there support today and this is what was said:

Megan: No, you would not be charged an extra day if the vehicle is returned within a 24 period. If you do return it after your original 24 hour pick up time we generally give you a 30 minute grace period, followed by an hourly charge, then a daily charge.

Megan: If you pick up at noon, you are able to keep until 12 noon in a 24 hour period for one day's worth of rental.

Megan: That is before 12 noon on June 4th. You are able to have the car until 12 noon on June 4th.
Megan: May I have your reservation number, please?

Megan: I do show you having a valid reservation. You have an 8 day rental valid in 24 hour segments, May 27 through June 4.
************: : ok, thanks for that. If I keep the car past 12pm on June 4ths, at what rate will the additonal day be charged at?
Megan: Hourly rate of $10.50 and then daily rate of $31.50.
