Returning rental car/ME to resort?

I will be staying offsite at timesharing for a week, Sat to Sat, renting a car at MCO. Then we are staying 2 nites onsite. Can I return my car on Sat am to MCO and then use ME to get to my resort? No luggage involved as I'll drop it off beforehand along with the rest of my family. The cost of the extra 2-3 days on the rental is a LOT of money. Does this make any sense?? Is it even an option?

I don't know about that, but have you considered dropping off the car at WDW? Who are you renting with? If its National/Alamo you could probably drop off at the Dolphin. If not some of the other companies have outlets in DTD hotel area where you may be able to drop off.

I would think that would be OK, since you'll be at MCO anyway.

But I also agree with the last poster; it seems to me a waste of at least a couple of hours. Theres no reason you can't rent an Alamo/National at MCO, then return it to the Car Care Center outside the Magic Kingdom (they'll drop you back at the Transportation and Ticket Center -- you can get pretty much anywhere from there) or the Dolphin. I'd at least look at the Alamo rates for doing that.

Keep in mind that the rates can vary quite a bit depending upon where you pick up. MCO is often cheaper than the Car Care Center (Alamo: ORLR72) and the Dolphin (Alamo: ORLR74). Lately I've seen the CCC cheaper than MCO though, which is a bit unusual, but not unheard of. And the last lookup I did, CCC was less expensive than the Dolphin.

Of course, do your homework, book something, then keep looking until its time to leave.

Yes, if you find that the MCO dropoff is the cheapest, then yes you can book DME to get to the resort. Just tell them your day of arrival and that you don't know your flight times yet. Once you've dropped the car at MCO, walk to the DME desk and you will board the next bus to your resort.

You MUST have a DME reservation.

For your return to the airport, confirm your homebound flight times and your bus boarding times will appear on your resort room door the day before your depart.
