Returning car to LAX

Hi SOCAL experts! I have a rental car question.....

How much time should I be allowing myself to return a car to LAX (National Rental Car...looks off site). We will be leaving from GC on a Tuesday morning in March.

Our flight leaves at 11:20 am.

Also, is there going to be somewhere close to National to fill up with gas before we return it? What do you suggest?

re: gas...be SURE to get info about that from the National people before leaving with your car. We didn't do that, when renting from Avis, and ended up at a super-sketchy gas station.

We didn't give ourselves enough time. I would give at least an hour to just get to the car rental place, and a really solid 45 minutes or so to do the business of the return and get the shuttle over to the airport. And of course that's all to get to the airport well before your flight.

As I try to always remember, better to be early and bored at the airport, than running down the concourse holding up your pants (b/c you couldn't put your belt back on after going through security) b/c your flight is about to take off!

Not that that happened or anything...on the trip when we rented and didn't get gas station info... (the part that didn't happen was the plane taking off...turned out it hadn't even boarded, 5 minutes before scheduled departure time, we got LUCKY).

If you go south on Sepulveda (go under the 105 freeway) there will be a couple of gas stations about 1-2 minutes away. This is a nice area in El Segundo so you will be okay (I've worked in the area for a good 15 years, so know it well)

I am not familiar with the roads/ highways.
Is there a name of the gas station on Sepulveda?
I will get directions on google maps.

I am a bit nervous to drive . What is traffic like Tuesday morning heading towards LAX?

Maybe car service is a better way to go??
