Returning a rental car EARLY?

Hi all. Do you get dinged or fined for returning a rental car earlier than the reservation states? I would imagine there would be fees for returning the car LATE, but what about early?

Weekly rates may be reconverted to possibly higher daily rates if the resulting rental period is too short or fails to span a Saturday night or whatever rule applied.

I guess my big concern is a matter of returning the car at 6am instead of 7am.

You should call the rental car company and find out since it might depend on the car company.

I forget the details, but once with National it was much cheaper if I returned the rental on a Monday but I needed to return the car Sunday evening. Since they charge in 24 hour increments I was still being billed for the same number of days even by returning the car 12 hours "early" but the price (for whatever reason) was much cheaper. There was no problem at all!

So for a 1 hour difference, I wouldn't worry at all from Hertz, Avis, National, etc. The cheaper companies may or may not take issue with it.

It is was me I would just do it.
