Returning a Car Early?

My parents rented a car for the last week and they are due to return it today at 9:00 pm. They would like to go earlier this afternoon and return it. Will they charge them extra for returning it early?

Maybe. The only way to know for sure is to call the rental company and ask.

if they return it this afternoon, it should not be a problem...

usually the week base rate is for 5 or more days

once you get past a couple of hours past last nights 9:00 pm time, it would kick into the 7th day of the rental anyhow, thus returning it 5 hours early would not make any difference...

where people run into problems, is when the weekly rate is much cheaper than a 4 day rate and they try to return the car on the 4th day of a 5 - 7 day rental, then the company could end up charging the higher 4 day rate....
