I arrived back yesterday from my first stay at the Poly, 08/25 to 09/05, and it was wonderful!
We booked GV and were sprinkled with pixie dust as we were upgraded to a LV, Tahiti room 2023. The view was directly to the MK with the castle front and center. I was so surprised when we entered our room and realized where we were, I felt like a kid on Christmas morning again! The room itself was pretty spacious compared to the other deluxes, and the bathroom was a great size also. The room was very clean when we checked in and the mousekeeping was great the whole time we were there with it, very fast and efficient IMO.
The resort itself was everything I'd imagined as I've wanted to stay there for a really long time! It wasn't too crowded and there were always chairs available by each pool. The quiet pool was just that: quiet, which is always nice for a change of pace. The grounds around the hotel are well-kept and in keeping with the theme and it was really nice walking around all the pathways and seeing everything.
The restaurants there are great as well. We'd tried Ohana before, which is always good, but I have to say that I now have a true love for Kona Cafe. I really think their offerings are unique and fantastic, especially the dessert bar! Captain Cooks was typical of fast-fare at the resorts, and it was fresh and quick. I do think it needs to be enlarged so glad that it's in the works.
The transportation options at this resort are a major plus. Staying in Tahiti we had a short walk to the GCH and resort monorail there, as well as the bus stop out front, but also to the TTC where we could easily hop on the Epcot monorail. I did find transportation a bit slow this trip, though not something particular to the Poly -- we were all over the place by monorail, bus, and boat and the wait times just seemed longer everywhere. But still not too bad, sometimes it's all in the timing and it may have just seemed that way.
As for the construction, I didn't find it intrusive at all. It did seem to pick up in terms of noise level in the last few days there, but it was likely because they seemed to be replacing the patio doors on Niue, which obviously lets the inside noise outside for a bit. Seriously, if I hadn't known it was happening, it wouldn't have been really that obvious at all.
The only thing I disliked were the crows, they were everywhere. Walking about I got a strange feeling I was suddenly Tippi Hedren. But at least for us, we didn't have any real issue with droppings or anything, the noise and visual was just a little disturbing. Not a big thing though, I'll take it!
Anyhow, those are my thoughts, can't wait to stay there again!
