Return to the Scene of the Crime: The Lurkyloos’ First Anniversary at WDW! New VIDEO!

Melanie's post reminded me of something. Have you ever had dinner at the Rose & Crown dinner, being able to catch Illuminations on the terrace? Has anyone?

Just wondering other people's (LurkyLoo's) experiences with this..

We had a 7:20 reservation on our honeymoon in September. We were wondering why it was taking so long to get our meal (we had been traveling since four that morning)... they dragged it out so we could see Illuminations. It was fantastic. So just do what lurkyloo did... time your reservation sometime between 7:50 and 8:45. They actually let you leave your table in the restaurant to watch and then let you come back in and finish your meal, if you're still eating.

Catching up...

Boo on the realization that DVC just isn't right for you! But...it's like that for us too.:sad2:

And no more peanut butter chocolate cake at Sunshine Seasons?? :scared1: Dang it i wanted to try that in December!!

And i agree that Chefs looks pretty good!!

popcorn:: More more more! :rotfl:

I found this great smilie!!! hahaha
Perfect for what I keep doing to your TR!

to quote Bill Cosby "The child wanted chocolate cake for breakfast! How ridiculous! .. and someone in my brain looked under chocolate cake and saw the ingredients: eggs! Eggs are in chocolate cake! And milk! Oh goody! And wheat! That's nutrition! "

:rotfl:
and Grapefruit juice!! :lmao:

I searched high and low for the peanut butter cake in December and couldn't find it anywhere :sad2:

I love how you capture all the details in EPCOT. I don't think I've ever really spent that much time in Canada. :confused3

:sad2: Wow, I wish I'd known back in September that I would never see that cake again - I woulda eaten a bunch more! Wait... maybe it's good I didn't...

Yet another Disney food that I will just have to learn to make myself. As it turns out, I like my version of Epcot Catering's chocolate-peanut butter marshmallow squares even better than theirs! :thumbsup2

I wish I would have know about it in one of our previous trips but maybe that's a good thing that I didn't. I'm gonna steal from Cinderella here: you don't know what you got, til it's gone. I don't know the cake, I won't miss it, unlike the market nachos at Peppermarket. :sad1: I hate it when Disney gets rid of foods you love.

Also, since you twisted my arm :lmao: and got me to change my DP menu to include the choc-peanut butter marshmallow squares, I might need that recipe.

:rotfl2: Maybe if I give 'em a plug, they'll give ME the password to their secret lounge.

Wait, I thought the password was 123456789??? :rotfl:

Whenever I give my kids cake for breakfast(this is only on rare occasions), I have them sing Mom is great, she gives us chocolate cake. I love that skit!

It happened twice before I realized the restaurant only had male waitstaff – what’s up with that?

I always find this to be an interesting phenomenon. I used to work at a fine dining restaurant (that also owned a jazz club next door) and they would only give me lunch shifts in the restaurant. I had to cocktail in the evening at the club. I'm pretty sure there was only ever one female that served in the restaurant for dinner...and I won't get into how she got her foot in that door. :rolleyes1

It was explained to me that men are preferred as wait staff for fine dining because they don't get "emotional". Fine dining is all about the "pomp" and it's believed that a woman wouldn't stay calm, cool, and collected if something went wrong. I was also told that men are more "distinguished" and therefore more suited to the "ceremony". Sheesh.

Now I wouldn't really consider Chefs to be "fine dining" (snob that I am) but I think it's the vibe that they're trying to achive. That being said...I actually HAVE had a female server at Chefs. And she was fantastic. But they do seem to be pretty few and far between there.

Oh forgot about those chocolate peanutbutter squares!! :artist: (THis was the closest smiley to writing down ideas.) Must remember those!

I love all the detail shots in Epcot. This trip we completed the scavenger hunt that we had given our guests in their welcome packets last year (whoops, we were a little late on that one!) and I noticed a lot of little things like the knights on the building in Germany that I have never seen before.

The cream puff in France looks heavenly :lovestruc I also enjoyed the shots in Canada since we usually always skip over that country considering we live only about 1 hour away from their border :rotfl:

When I was younger I thought the countries were "boring" and would beg out of going through the world showcase. Now it's my favorite part of Epcot! Weird how things turn around. I think I want to stay at the boardwalk next year to be close to the Epcot action!

Too bad Dh and I didn't run into you; we were there Jan 20-Feb 1 (except for a few Disney cruise days)!

Oh my gosh - I can't believe we didn't cross paths! Then again, Toni was there for almost our entire trip, and somehow we never saw her either, despite my best attempts at stalking....

to quote Bill Cosby "The child wanted chocolate cake for breakfast! How ridiculous! .. and someone in my brain looked under chocolate cake and saw the ingredients: eggs! Eggs are in chocolate cake! And milk! Oh goody! And wheat! That's nutrition! "

:rotfl:

I love it! And I love Bill Cosby - I should see if Netflix has any of his stand-up on DVD.

:lmao:
Best Bill Cosby skit EVAH! My dad would try to use that reasoning all the time with my Mom..and us kids? Well we certainly wern't going to say anything to interfere with our elders...:rolleyes1

Cathy

;) Smart cookies!

Sounds like a great day! That ham and Cheese looked tasty besides the burnt edges!

:cutie: And even those woulda been OK if theys been slathered in cheese sauce....

yay! more lurkyloo-ness! I am happy that you got cute pictures in one of my favorite rides (mexico) since it features the love of my life, Donald Duck! :lovestruc

Aw... Donald is the best! I love his bad attitude.

Waaaaay back in '97, before I had gray hair, I spent 10 days in Paris, and ate a ham & cheese sammich every single one of those days (I took German in high school, it was the only think I could recognize on a menu!) and none of them looked as good as the one you had! They were all cold, on a baguette, and had cold butter slathered on them.

Me too! I went to Paris in high school on a cut-rate package tour, and all they fed us for lunch was ham sandwiches with cold butter on baguettes so hard, one kid actually chipped a tooth! :scared:

Yay! More delish foodie photos...we ate at "Chefs" during out jaunt to WDW for a pals wedding ;-)

It was a chilly night so most of us ordered soup. It was so good! I have dreamt of that soup (mine was something with butternut squash). Yummy. That desert looks good enough to lick the plate when finished. Did you? Lick the plate, I mean. I might have, if it had been sitting in front of me.

I miss epcot.

 There, there. You guys should go back! Work that Silver Pass!

I want to eat at Chefs de France now.
And I will have what you had, that looks so yummy!

Me too... I want to eat at Chefs de France as well now.

:rotfl: You can bring our pictures and wave them under the waiter's nose and point.

We tried Chefs de France last time we were there for Free Dining. I really didn't expect to love it, but that day the food was delicious! The floor and ceiling there are just stunning!

Yes! I didn't even notice the floor til I saw our pictures, and it is cool!

Well that's good to know! Considering we were supposed to be having a private dinner on the patio next to R&C, I kinda wish we'd just booked a regular reservation and saved a buck, but they felt so bad about having to move us into the restaurant cuz of the cold that everyone made a huge deal over us.

Catching up...

Boo on the realization that DVC just isn't right for you! But...it's like that for us too.:sad2:

:guilty: I'm so sorry to have gotten everyone's hopes up on this dang peanut butter chocolate cake! Maybe if we all write letters, they'll bring it back. :hyper:

I found this great smilie!!! hahaha

:lmao: Keep that one handy, Betsy - I have a feeling you're gonna need it often....

I love how you capture all the details in EPCOT. I don't think I've ever really spent that much time in Canada. :confused3

I wish there were more to do there. I guess there used to be more shops up top in the Chateau de Frontenac building - I dunno why they closed them.

Wait, I thought the password was 123456789??? :rotfl:

Oh my gosh - you're right! I coulda been in the lounge the whole time! Stoopid! Stoopid! Stoopid! :headache:

:scared1: Wait - that's TOTALLY sexual discrimination! They could totally get sued for that! And that's why I wonder about Chefs de France - surely Disney wouldn't court a discrimination charge that way.... Maybe your waitress is their escape clause.

Oh forgot about those chocolate peanutbutter squares!! :artist: (THis was the closest smiley to writing down ideas.) Must remember those!

:lmao: Nice smiley!

Lucky! Do you know how many wonderful food products Canada has that we can't get here? Next time you go, check out "all-dressed" flavor potato chips and bring back a bottle of President's Choice Peanut Sauce. :thumbsup2

The countries are totally my favorite part too. I think it might be cuz of the food... :guilty:

I agree that the Canadian Pavilion needs more!! I hear that the Beavertails are sorely missed too...

FYI, in case you really go hunting for it, you can only get President's Choice things at Loblaw stores. :)

Answer to what kind of cake....

It was DS's bday so he got to pick the cake.....it was just a plain yellow cake. It was very good though because it didn't compete with the icing.

ready for another update :thumbsup2

Don't feel bad, lurkyloo! irisbud stood right next to me on the ship, and I didn't know either! :D

I will definitely have to check those out on our next trip over the border! :thumbsup2 We haven't been in a while because the custom lines have been long and the exchange has been down, but we're planning to go back again in the next few months since its been a while.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

You guys are HIGH-larious! I'm working on the next part as we speak- er, type!

Now stop distracting me! :rolleyes1
