A little birdy told me that some of the cast members at WDW have been telling guests that there are plans for The Adventurer's Club to re-open after Pleasure Island undergoes its rennovations.

A little birdy told me that some of the cast members at WDW have been telling guests that there are plans for The Adventurer's Club to re-open after Pleasure Island undergoes its rennovations.

And highly placed sources have quashed those rumors. The current rumor is a new AC at Animal Kingdom Lodge, but even that is purely wishful thinking at this point.

Tonight is my last night at the Adventurers Club. I've been getting all teary-eyed for the past week. Tonight I'll be a blubbering baby.

A blubbering baby in Mickey Groom Top Hat Ears. We're wearing them out tonight, it's our bachelor party.

"Kungaloosh" can mean many things. It can mean "hello", it can mean "kiss me quick before the lava reaches the village", it can mean "don't touch that, it's dead", it can mean "please touch that, I'm hoping it's still alive", it can mean "What are you doing with your pants around your ankles and why are you waving that stinky piece of cheese at me?", but tonight it will mean "goodbye".

Those are actually lines from the club. The amazing cast can adlib during the new member induction ceremony for things that "Kungaloosh" can mean, and one of the ladies uses "What are you doing with your pants around your ankles and why are you waving that stinky piece of cheese at me?". Then the other person onstage gives her a wierd look and she'll say "it was a cheese festival in Wisconsin" or "Strange weekend on Holland, don't ask", or "Was it gouda for you?" or other things.

Is there any doubt why we love the place? It's so funny, every night is different, but every night is funny.

It's magic. Pure and simple Disney magic.



And their taking it away from us.

No, I'm not a cast member at the Adventurers Club, though we have many friends who are, and it's the dream job for both Scott and me. We're just regular guests. We met at 8-Trax during Gay Days 2003, and our first date was bar hopping at Pleasure Island. That first date started at the Adventurers Club with Kungalooshes. When we moved here, we started attending the club two or three nights a week and have done so for five years. We've made wonderful friends at the club, and have gotten to know the amazing people who work there both as bar staff and as performers. Many of them will be at our Big Fat Gay Disney Wedding on Sunday as guests, despite having become unemployed at 2:00am Sunday morning, when the last Hoopla ends.

We went to the Adventurers Club for the last time last as regular guests last night. It was very hard. I broke down at the end of the Hoopla and cried, Scott cried in the parking lot. It's been a major part of our lives, and as I said, it's a magical place.

I died a little bit inside last night. The part of me that claps for fairies because I believe is no longer as strong as it used to be. We clapped and we clapped, and the magic is going away anyway.

Our own "Happily Ever After" started when we met, and we're celebrating that this weekend.

But our beloved club, becomes a place where magic USED to live.

My inner child had to grow up a little bit last night.

And it sucked.

Before I go on saying what I'm about to say, just keep this in mind: I hate the idea of The AC and Pleasure Island in general going away. I don't think it was good decision (financially or logistically) from the development/planning department at WDW.

Think of it this way: Walt didn't want everything at his resorts to stay static, because sometimes change can bring great things. Some very good things came about from the existance of this club. It helped bring two guys together and created a lot of memories for you. It's almost as if the disappearance of the AC is someone's way of saying that you two don't need the club, and that your new lives together will be having a lot more memories being created in the near future. Yes, the club will be missed.....but just as Walt always looked for new and exciting things and experiences to improve his "magical kingdoms", I think you two will as well.

So I went to PI last night to meet up with ConcK and Knox. Couldn't even get a beer, the lines even at the outdoor beer wagons were over 20 minutes long!

Now let me preface by saying I'm not much into the club scene anymore, and rarely go out to clubs. BUT, I must admit, it was a little sad to see the end of this era. I'm sure what Disney has in mind for this area will be good, and hopefully even better than PI. But it was a fun party while it lasted!

They darn near blew up the place at midnight last night! Alas, the last New Years Eve party!

the original idea was for 8-trax to constantly change into a new club, but they abandoned that idea
