Welcome to the March 2026 exercise thread! Our theme this month is St. Patrick's Day / the color green, and we'll be exploring Disney characters that are or wear green.

If you’re returning, we’re excited to have you back! If you’re new, welcome to the team! Here’s how it works:

Each person chooses a time goal and posts minutes towards that goal as they exercise. You can post daily or just catch up when you can. You decide what movement counts towards your goal - which can be a nice round total for the month, a specific number that means something to you, or a calculation based on a target number of minutes per day. Since March has 31 days, here are some common conversions:

15 minutes/day = 465
20 minutes/day = 620
30 minutes/day = 930
45 minutes/day = 1395
1 hour/day = 1860

One of the special motivations of our Disney challenge is color changing!

Page one will be updated with individual and team color changes as we make more and more progress:

10% - Blue
25% - Orange
50% - Purple
75% - Pink
90% - Red
100% - Green

We’re officially starting this challenge on March 1st, but if you don’t find the thread until later in the month, you’re still welcome to join! There's no better time than the present to start toward your goals!! Just post your goal and I’ll add you to the list. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions and to check out old threads to see what’s been going on.

Opening today with Pascal:

Pascal is a chameleon, the pet/sidekick of Rapunzel in Tangled. He is voiced by the amazing Frank Welker, who you've likely heard in hundreds of roles, from Fred in Scooby-Doo, to Transformers characters, to Curious George. (https://www.frankwelker.com/)

This article:

has a lot more about Pascal, including how he came to be with Rapunzel.

I think I'll aim for 20 minutes per day this month. So 620 is my goal. I failed last month as I didn't hit my goal. But I've started this month off with a bang. Mowed and edged the yard then blew it off, walked around Lowe's for a bit, walked around Walmart for a bit. I hit 10k steps today for the first time since we were at Disney in November.

That said, I'll say 120 minutes as mowing was almost 2 hours alone plus our time walking Walmart and Lowe's.

120/620.

30 minutes for me yesterday (30/700)

and congrats to WDW_fan_in_TX on reaching blue already!! :stitch:

Today's Disney green character is Elliott from Pete's Dragon:

(I'm concentrating on the 1977 version I watched as a kid, but there is also a 2016 remake.)

From the Disney Wiki:

Physical appearance ~

Elliott was created and designed by Ken Anderson. In one of the promotional posters, he is said to be "20 feet tall" and "40 feet long", but in the actual film, he appears to be closer to roughly 12 feet in height. And according to the song, "It's Not Easy", he has a camel's head, a crocodile's neck, a cow's ears, and is half-fish and half-mammal.

Elliott himself is a fairly tall obese dragon with a very prominent chin and a large stomach big enough for Pete to sit on as a cushion. He has emerald-green scales, a mint-green segmented underbelly, and forest-green spots of varying sizes along his body. He has bubblegum-pink hair in a style similar to a pixie-cut on his head and at the end of his tail, which acts as a third arm. He has purple spikes running down his spine, and small pink bat-like wings with a lighter pink webbing on his back which, despite their size, are still able to let him fly, albeit a little awkwardly.

Personality ~

Elliott is a dragon with the ability to become invisible. He is depicted as a benevolent character who assists children in need, like Pete. He is shown to be fairly clumsy, even when flying. He is also shown to be very protective of Pete.

Elliott is apparently a guardian of children, coming and going, seeking those who are in need of a friend, at least until they have a family that can be there for them or helps those he befriends until their problems are all resolved, and he hates it when some nasty abusive adult mistreats children. Once a child has no further need of him, he sadly moves on and never sees them again, so it's possible that he is really a guardian spirit whose purpose is to protect and help mistreated children.

Elliott can be a bit of a mischief-maker intentionally or not, as he caused various instances of accidental property damage, and Pete was blamed due to him being invisible― although he never means any real harm to anyone.

I always loved Disney's combinations of live action and animation! Here's some bonus content those special effects:

Hello everyone hope you don’t mind me joining in. I’m aiming for 20 minutes a day so my goal is 620. I spent 90 minutes tending to the allotment at my grandkids school today so I’m counting that to start me off. We are all getting very excited for St Patrick’s Day here and starting to make plans both for if it’s sunny/torrential rain/ or a bit of both 😂. There’s a reason Ireland is green 🌧️ 😂
Thanks @PollyannaMom for hosting this thread and all the fun facts
My count so far is 90/620.
