how did the eye wind up in that castle thing?????? i mean like where did it come from....i think it happened when the guy got his finger cut off but im not sure....excuse the lack of names, havent seen tehmovies in awhile unfortunately

that's right, it happened when sauron's finger was cut off. actually, when the physical body of sauron was cut off. he used to be a "necromancer" (powerful wizard), then his soul became superpowerful and he put most of his soul and power into the ring.
when he lost the ring, what was left of his soul stayed in mordor. i'm pretty sure the eye (aka great eye, one eye, lidless eye, etc) is on top of barad-dur because it's the tallest tower in middle earth and he can see a long way from it and control lots of people.

*edit* most of that is stuff that's not in the movies. it's just background stuff from the books ive read and from the history of middle earth.

that actually wasnt from the trilogy, it was from (i think) history of middle earth volume 2.
