We got back from a Wonderful cruise on Thursday 8/12 only to discover Hurricane Charley was on his way. Since we live in Naples, FL, we were quite concerned. We drove straight home and started preparing for Charley. Our house had no damage and only one palm tree had damage. We were very lucky as our next door neighbor lost several shingles from his roof and had a tree break in half across his driveway. We had a lot of wind damage around Naples and parts of the county still are without power(fortunately not us). Thankfully we weren't as severely hit as Punta Gorda. My oldest DD and her DF live in Orlando and they had wind damage there also. They are still without power and are currently staying in a hotel. We feel very lucky, however, as we are all alive and unharmed.

None of this has dimmed our enthusiam for DCL cruising and we have already rebooked for May. Hopefully there won't be any Tropical Depressions,Storms or Hurricanes then!

I'm so glad you had a great cruise and even better news that you don't have much damage. :Pinkbounc :bounce:

We live in Myrtle Beach and it was worse than what we had anticipated here. We are fine and at home with lights and all (thank God!) but did loose our screen door, a swing on our deck was tossed and shredded, we have a leak in the roof that damaged some furniture, a pine tree is also across our deck, and another pine tree down in our backyard....we faired better than our neighbor who lost their deck - and of course better than most in FL who we are saying prayers for. Just glad it's over and wanting the next one's to pass us by!

So glad you all made it back safe and sound ::yes::

When did you book for May? We are going to be on the May12th 4 day Wonder :hyper: The great thing about May - no Hurricanes :teeth:

Welcome home!

We rebooked for the May 7th Magic western carribean. It's going to be a graduation from college celebration for my oldest DD and her DF.

I'm sorry about your damage but I'm glad you are OK, also.

Carol,
Glad you had a great cruise and returned home to no damage. By the way I think we met at lunch right after boarding! When I read Naples I went back and read your original post on the cruise meets and it clicked! We were sitting with your family and both had daughters Sara (I know yours is Sarah) Never thought to ask you about the Dis boards as I was just so excited to finally be on board! We had a fantastic cruise too and rebooked for next August on the 7 night West Coast where we can drive! Took us 2 days to fly home, not storm related, mechanical problems on the plane causing us to miss connections.
Sad its over but glad to be out of Florida with the storms!

Glad you had a great trip. And that you made back ok. How long is the drive from Naples to the Port? Where was Naples hit the worst we have a Condo in Park Shore Area. Have you heard any thing about Cape Coral I have an Aunt who lives there. Wehave not been able to get ahold of. She travels in the summer so she might not be home.

Vickie,
Your are absolutely correct. That was us sitting across from you. I didn't realize it either, though, for the same reason as you. It was a great cruise and we can't wait to go back.

Carol

Kae,
We haven't actually heard much about Park Shore but I'm sure there is a lot of wind damage. I understand one Banyan tree was uprooted as is laying across the road totally blocking it. Clearance crews have been working fairly contstantly during daylight hours to get the downed trees removed. It will take quite a while, though.
Similarly, we haven't heard much about Cape Coral as most of the coverage has been centered on Punta Gorda. I'm hoping no news is good news.
We wouldn't know Orlando had so much trouble except my DD lives on the east side of Orlando. The theme parks are up and running but a great deal of Orlando is still without power and will be until Saturday at the earliest and next Tuesday(hopefully) at the latest.
Hope you can get in touch with your Aunt soon.
