On Monday we are giving a retirement reception for one of our co-workers. We work in the school lunchroom and I am the manager. The lady retiring has been with the food service dept. for 38 years!!!
We collected money from us and the teachers and other staff and we bought her a beautiful Red dress, matching hat, and purse all embellished with bugle beads, embroidery, sequins, etc. Her favorite activity away from work is going to church and at least down here, the african american ladies wear hats to church so that is why we got her the outfit.
We also have plaque ready to present her and on that day she will be Queen for the Day...complete with beautiful tiara. The local community paper will come take her picture to go along with the article I sent in and will be published that same week.
We will serve punch, cake, soup, finger sandwiches, fruit, meatballs, cocktail sausages, cheese ball and crackers, mints, brownies, cheesecake bites, wings.
We are decorating in red and gold. I have some medium sized clear vases that I am filling with small red and gold ornament balls and stars. These are in glitter, shiny and dull surfaces. The tables will have lace like tablecloths with either shiny red or shiny gold paper underneath. Red and gold stars will be scattered on the tables as well.
Are we missing anything? Anything we could add??
