Good morning Sharptooth ,first comgrats on the Retirement Planning.
My grandparent also retired in Seebring Florida ,,they spent one winter traveling around and renting at some of the Trailer parks. They initially were unsure how close to all the action of Orlando they would want to be and in the end choose a place a few hours drive away. My dad is also retired (snowbird) but he and my stepmom decided to buy a motorhome and travel around for a year,,I'm glad he did because they ended up selling the motor home and buying a trailer in a park in Mission Texas(yes here you do buy the property you make a base on). Now after a year or so of living in the park --they decided to build a home (villa) in Pharr Texas,. As much as I love Texas and visiting I still think Florida will be my first choice when I retire--atleast 3 weeks a year or more DVC. I would highly recommend CARP organization. Canadian Association Retired People,,they have a magazine that I read at my dad's all the time. Also speak with a Canadian Lawyer who might have some knowledge of what USA rules and Reg you may be looking at.
C/A.A also might have some info for you. I know the there is a Canadian Snow birds Association web site. I guess from my family I've learned to jump in with one toe before both feet,,,live alittle --travel alittle and then decide.
Hugs to you
Mel
