I posted this over in the Resorts section of the board, but someone suggested I post here as well for additional suggestions:

I'll be traveling to WDW later this month to celebrate my Birthday, but more importantly my parents' retirement.

I've got a few surprises already planned for them (custom cake for our dining reservation at the German Pavilion and flower/balloon arrangement), but I am struggling to find other things to surprise them with.

I would prefer to book something (tours, rentals, etc.) that won't take up the whole day and won't break the bank (like under $100 a piece for a particular experience).

We will have more time in EPCOT than in any other park, and will have at least 3 non-park days to explore the resorts - if that info helps.

Also if this info helps trigger a thought or idea:
Dad loves Soarin, Voices of Liberty, engineering, animals
Mom loves Beauty and the Beast, Space Mountain, anything relaxing/low-key

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Behind the seeds tour at Epcot is super cheap and isn't long

Ha, believe it or not we've only ever been on one tour in our numerous visits, and it was the Behind the Seeds Tour. They did like it, but I don't think they'd want to do it again any time soon.

Thanks for the suggestion though!

How about Marceline to Magic Kingdom tour? I think it's like $50 and only a few hours.

I want to try to avoid anything tour related in MK, just because we only have 1 day there this time, and they like most/all the rides there. But Thank You for the suggestion!

At AKL you can take a restaurant tour. I think it is about 45 minutes and free. You get a few tastes from what I hear. I have not done it yet though. AKL is so beautiful. That would be a great resort day.

There are 2 tours at Epcot, a 4-hour one in Future World that's $69 pp and one in World Showcase at $109 pp. We did the one in FW some years ago & enjoyed it. Look at the Events & Tours under Things to Do on MDE.

Thank you all for your replies!

I'm leaning toward one of the Animal Kingdom Lodge tours, as it won't eat up time out of any of our park days.

I've also thought about doing a picnic at the Poly Beach to watch Wishes. Any one know if there is any where on property to order a Picnic basket, or to get "take out" food?
