Rethinking my resort choice....

we loved POFQ.. had a few housekeeping issues, but otherwise i would say grounds were immaculately clean, as was the food court, and pool area. I felt it was VERY romantic! So much so that we booked there for our upcoming honeymoon!

I love POFQ It's been a couple years since I was there but it is my favorite mod.

We really enjoyed our stay at POFQ. Had we not been staying deluxe this time, we would definitely be back at FQ. I love the size of it and we enjoyed the entertainment at the bar. I can see the oversized Mardi Gras masks being creepy but not as creepy as the clown slide.

we stayed at pofq last year and it was not dingy at all, the rooms were fine, we liked the small size of the resort, and as por is a sister resort, you can easily walk down the road and visit or use the pool or even eat at the food court and resturant there. we liked that the walk to the bus was short, and there were the masses of people that are at por. the first resort i stayed at was por (dixie landings back then) and we loved it, but we love all the resorts!

I can't compare the two but we stayed at POFQ last September and it was really nice. There was nothing dirty or dingy about our room. The room was clean and the beds comfy. The food court is small but we only ate there for breakfast and there was plenty of selection - basic eggs and bacon, beinets, yogurt/fruit, etc. It never really felt crowded.

I've stayed at the WL in the past and I definitely enjoyed WL more but we are going back in January 2013 and I'm thinking about staying at POFQ again just because of the cost and the amount of time we actually spend in the room makes it hard for me to justify deluxe at times.

I would recommend POFQ!

That being said - I did stay at POFQ 2 years ago (on an AP discount.. we were out of DVC points for a quick stay.) It was just my DH and I and we absolutely LOVED FQ. Sure the rooms aren't as big as a villa...but the charm there just couldn't be beat. Small, quaint, full of character. Everything was close by... still could ride the boat to DTD. Food court was fantastic... jazz bar was awesome....We genuinely loved it. Hope this helps!:thumbsup2

I agree that the recent negative postings have also put me off the idea of POFQ. I have been considering it because I wanted to get two rooms this year. (I really just want two bathrooms.) However I am beginning to think I just need to stick with Deluxe.

We stayed at POR once a year ago. The resort was OK, but I realllllly did not like the dark wood interiors of AB section. It just felt depressing to me. And the food court did get crazy busy. I thought we might like colorful POFQ better, but if most people prefer POR...:confused3

After reading threads about how "dirty" and "dingy" FQ is, I am really rethinking my ressie there. I intially picked it because I thought the convience of having a smaller resort would be nice. ......

I was a recent poster who used the terms dirty and dingy for the food court at POFQ. it was our biggest disappointment. And after staying at all star music for the last two years, I was accustomed to a larger, cleaner food court with more selection.

However, we loved our room, loved the grounds, loved the feel of the resort, loved the hot tub and pool and the bus service was pretty good too. We felt so relaxed there. it was very quiet and we were on the ground floor, near the pool.

if you are looking for a small, convenient resort, go for it.
even though I had issues with the food court, I will definitely be back because everything else was amazing.

We ate at Riverside a few times. Even though the food and the selection were good, the resort just seems way too spread out for us. We also swam at the main pool which was great, but the Dragon pool at POFQ was just as great for us.

I too gave a recent observations on FQ. This past January we stayed for a week at POR. We stayed in a river view room in the Oak Manor building. The room was fine, the food court was great.

We went down to FQ to hang out for a while and get beignets. It was absolutely appalling. There was garbage on the floor, greasy handprints on the wall. The floors looked like they hadn't been mopped in months. The decor was gaudy. There just was no comparison to POR. POR was clean and the decor was great whilst FQ looked absolutely sleazy.

I find it surprising since POFQ went through a refurb a bit less than two years ago.

I always stay at POR, because I like the extra added amentities over POFQ, but I pass by it every night on the water taxi and think that POFQ looks very quaint and peaceful. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there is POR was booked.

I have stayed at both and I just think there's no comparison. POR is so much nicer imho. But that's just my opinion. We also have a rental car so buses don't really matter. When we stayed at FQ i said i will never come back. It's just not for me. It is small, the theming isn't for me,and the food court is small and theming scary (creepy mardis gras masks hanging from the ceiling). I did find that resort dingy and gross frankly. I have stayed at ASMu, POP, WL, Poly, CSR, POR, and POFQ. FQ is the only one I will never go back to.
I agree with the bolded part. I dont care for the smallness of the resort. I personally dont like the decore. I dont think its as pretty as POR. POR grounds are far more lush.

I've stayed at both, liked both, and much preferred Riverside. I've been in both AB and MB, and like AB better, I like the wandering pathways and gardens between buildings. In fact, I always liked the leisurely walk to the food court to refill our mugs. I liked the food court better at Riverside with more choices, lots of corners with bright windows to sit at, and IMHO a better decor. Before the renovations the rooms were getting a bit used feeling, but now they're all brand new and the MB room we had in Nov was great. I also love to see Bob Jackson in the River Roost Lounge, it wouldn't be a trip to Disney without that. I like the main pool at Riverside better, and the fact that they have smaller pools as well. I just never found the serpent slide appealing like most people do! The shop at Riverside is larger with a better selection. However, all of that being said, I like the theme at FQ and thoroughly enjoyed our stay there as well I just decided my preference will always be Riverside.
I agree with this as well.

My DS12 & I didnt care for the serpent slide. POR pool is way better IMO, longer slide. I like the theme better. I also love that they have quiet pools. The food court is much better, way more selection than POFQ. The smallness of POFQ doesnt appeal to me at all. I also dont like the theme. I like to have more variety at my resort, which they do at POR. They have bike rentals at POR, which is a lot of fun (reg or surrey bikes). Also paddle boat rentals etc. Plus Ye Haw Bob at the lounge. Plus a TS restaurant. Also, the boat to DTD goes to POR first, many times i'd see a huge line of ppl waiting at FQ, but the boat would only pick up 3-4 ppl and move on. I'd hate to wait that long and not be picked up.

We like POR way better. :thumbsup2

It seems like the consensus is people who have actually stayed at both prefer POR.

I just posted on another similar thread. We had our 1st FQ stay last month. We LOVED it and would stay there again in a heartbeat. Our previous on property stays have been at CSR, POR, WL and Poly. As far as mods go, POR was our fave - until this stay at POFQ. We loved the smaller size, the fact that it's the 1st bus pick-up and drop-off (before the mobs at POR), and that every building is really just steps away from the main building/food court. We didn't have any problems with service, mousekeeping, unsanitary conditions, power outages. Not one problem. Like I said on the other thread, bad experiences can be and are had anywhere. If you researched old threads on the Dis, you'd find the same "bad experience" threads for every resort on Disney property.

We're planning our 2013 stay at the Poly and are seriously considering switching it to POFQ after our last stay. We could stay for about 4 more days at FQ for what we would pay at the Poly. Love, love, love the Poly , but LOVE the idea of 4 more days at Disney!

I am thinking of changing because I see soooo much more love for POR than POFQ. I also saw videos of the Magnolia mansion, and ya, it kinda took my breath away ;)

That is funny cause about 5 years ago. POFQ was all the rage and POR got zero love! Pick which one looks best to you. In the end I personally think that it is where you are put at said resort. I wish you could pick your rooms like you do for DCL, but I am crazy like that cause I am big into ambiance. My DH says I would walk or drive out of my way an extra 5-10 minutes if it was more scenic.
