Rethinking Chef Mickey's???

While I agree Chef Mickey's can't compare to Tusker House...just want to point out Minnie is not at Tusker House, neither is Pluto.
Daisy replaces Minnie there.

My kids love Chef Mickeys. DH and I go for the salad, soup and desserts :)
And to see how happy our kids are. We also love Tusker House and mom/dad actually eat there.

Ah when did that change!? We had a frisky Minnie our last trip to Tusker House lol

We had dinner there on 8/29. I was nervous about it because of the negative reviews even though I had a good breakfast and dinner there in the past.

We had a 5:15 ADR. No wait.

The food was really really good!!! I was very pleased. The lobster mac and cheese was great. I would keep the ADR.
Thank you for your comment, it made me feel better about my decision. I too, am worried about my Chef Mickey's dinner at the end of November. It was my kid's first choice and I guess they are only young once. I hope our experience is as good as yours!

My DS is 15 and it's his only request for the trip. He loves that place! Even when I say there are other buffets he doesn't to hear it.

I actually think that that having a buffet meal before the pirate and pals meal is just way too much food. We actually arte very light meal before the cruise because there are so many snacks and desserts offered. Personally, I would suggest doing a table service for breakfast or lunch and then grab a light meal at the Contempo cafe.

This sounds like a great option thank you.....

Last year, I had an ADR at Chef Mickey's at 5:15. I was really nervous about the quality of the food because of all the negative reviews, but I booked it for the characters. I waited no more than 5 minutes for our table. Our server was absolutely amazing! And the food was very good. They had delicious ribs. The characters were great with our family, and they actually passed by our table two times. We are doing CM again this year for sure :)

Chef Mickey's is definitely one of our "must-do's" for each trip. Granted, we have young children and so the character interaction is even more important than the food. But while Chef Mickey's might not be five star fine dining, I've never had anything to complain about with the food. Certainly no worse than any other Disney buffet.

And the character interaction is, IMHO, top notch. Plus, there's just something special about dining in the Contemporary. On the podcast, Kevin said himself that the lobby of the Contemporary is iconic, and I agree. In fact, if you want a really good look at Chef Mickey's, I'd suggest you check out the dining review that the team recently did on the brunch there. Yes, it's going to be somewhat different than dinner, but I think you'll get a good feel for the place overall. Here's the link: https://goo.gl/QkxPTl

If you want the character experience, then sure, do it. It is the worst of the buffet's on property and IMO, and many others, one of the worst overall TS' on property.
The atmosphere is nothing special, just a buffet layout without a theme besides the huge statue mickey and a hectic loud atmosphere worse than the others. It's tolerable for breakfast, while still being the least rated of the character meal locations. The food is comparable to Old Country Buffet or Golden Corral.

If you want Mickey, Minnie and Donald with a unique theme and better buffet offerings, with quicker food replenishment and a less hectic atmosphere, go to Tusker House. The nicest of the buffet character meals would be 1900 Park Fare.
And with that statement you have just insulted those who like Old Country Buffet and Golden Corral. :rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

Yeah they'll get over it :p
I mean, I can justify either one of them for quick food and $11 lol. Even salad and soft-serve and brownies can justify that lol.

To be honest, the food isn't very good, yet we've been there a couple of times for the experience for our children. Heck, I just went crazy looking for another reservation so my youngest son could have dinner with the Fab5, I'm thinking after this trip since they both experienced it, we probably won't be back.
