As you all know I had stayed concierge at BWI last month and I felt for what I paid it was not worth a cent of that. I don't concierge for the food offereings, I go for the extra pampering you get. (cause I deserve it, LOL) I wrote to guest services with E-mail, snail mail to the hotel and even talked to someone on the concierge manager level. I got no letter back plus as you all know talking to someone just made me feel like I was wrong. Well after 4 weeks I decided to call the hotel manager. I WAS NOT, I repeat was not looking for anything free but I was looking for an ear to listen to my gripes so that maybe someone after me wouldn't experience what i did. well I got the nicest manager and he listened, didnt question me as to why I was thinking that way. l when all was said and done he asked me if I was coming back to Disney, I said yes and he wanted to know if I would pick BWI, I said no, I already booked YC...he said well I wish you would try the concierge again so please think about booking a room and then I will upgrade you to concierge. Needless to say I am going to give it a shot, like I told him I loved the hotel, it was imaculate, people were friendly but I just didnt think the service justified my $368.00 a night. So I will be off next June to BWI and see what my experience is like then. I am just a Disney freak, I think it is the most exciting place on earth.:bounce: :)

GOOD FOR YOU!!!!

Don't you love it when you find someone who doesn't judge whether you're justified in feeling cheated or not!!

He only cared that you were unhappy and that wasn't right!!

(Aren't ALL service industry suppose to work that way ;) )

I hope your next experience will make up for you last trip!!

I remember reading your post and thinking WOW I would have been so disappointed! Still would have had fun, but a little sad that I wasn't pampered!!!

Score one for the little people! :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

I feel the same way about it. Now, granted, I AM speaking out of turn because I've never stayed concierge. I've researched it though, and I still don't see the services or offerings even remotely special. If there were actual meals or something really special, I could see it. But, for donuts, cheese/crackers & other nick nacks, it's just not worth it to me....especially when you're in the parks most of the time and can't enjoy them.

I've never understood why someone would want a stranger to come in their room at bedtime to fluff thier pillows and pull their covers down for them. Plus you have to deal with the snotty people at the concierge desk if you need to change a PS...I don't mind calling to change PS's myself if I need to.

Now, I would consider it worth the huge extra cost if they really did pamper you and offered tangable extras. If the food offering could replace a meal for dinner, if I could stop by the salon for a manicure, hair done, or spa treatment, if they met me at the door & drove me back & forth to the parks in a limo/private van....provided me with front of the line access during my entire stay. I would consider those types of services worth the extra money.

But this is ME, I know others don't feel this way. And for those of you who like it...that's great & I'm glad you do. To each his own...live & let live. I'm sorry, but for the paltry services they offer.... I wouldn't pay all that extra money for a donut & cracker and the right to use a fancy french word in connection with my reservation. As John Stossel would say, "Give me a break!" JMHO

Now my freinds are making me think, what if he isn't the manager anymore, Hmmm, now I am starting to wonder if I should of keep my YC ressies, after all, it is a long way away before i go.

If it were me, I would make a ressie for BWI. Then I would call the manager and tell him you made the ressie. Express to him that you did this only because he promised to upgrade you to concierge and tell him after your recent experience you would appreciate it if he could send you a letter stating that should happen upon your arrival. I would also ask him if he could check the reservation to make sure it states concierge and not just a standard room. Then I would call ressie's back and indicate what is happening. If they do not have any concierge rooms available during your stay, if you aren't booked concierge, you won't get conceirge.

The manager should understand your hesitation and be glad to do it for you.

I'm glad someone finally listened to you!:D

Don't forget we're going to meet in Canada to get a Beaver Tail!!!;)

Even though I can only dream of concierge right now (jobless), I am so happy that you kept at until someone (with sense) would listen. You probably helped to make a huge impact on how the concierge there is going to be run. Congratulations on making an impact!!!!

Not everyone spends every waking hour in the parks. In your case, you are right concierge is probably not justified. In my case it's a great option. Breakfast for my family costs $40 if we eat in a restaurant. Concierge saves us that. We always stop back to the resort in the late afternoon to shower and change before dinner, and stop in for appetizers and wine. So there's value there as well.

I've never understood why someone would want a stranger to come in their room at bedtime to fluff thier pillows and pull their covers down for them. I enjoy coming back to a room that's had the drapes pulled, a soft lamp left on, used towels replaced, and the turned down. It's a nice extra touch. If you've never stayed on a concierge level, how would you know the people are snotty? Other than some problems at the GF, I've always found them to be extremely gracious and courteous.

That's pretty unrealistic. You are paying for a higher level of service as well as some hospitality. I do'nt know of any hotel that offers these type of services to concierge guests as a general rule of thumb. (Four Seasons comes closest I think)

I'm sorry, but as it is, I wouldn't pay all that extra money for a donut & cracker and the right to use a fancy french word in connection with my reservation. As John Stossel would say, "Give me a break!" JMO

And that's your choice. But don't be condescending towards those of us that do enjoy the experience. There is other value, such as checking in with the concierge instead of waiting in lines in the lobby. Also, it's been my experience that concierge guests tend to get better tables in the restaurants. Perhaps you can't put a dollar amount on these things, but it certainly adds to the magic.

Please don't make statements about the concierge staff that you can't back up. They generally will try to bend over backwards to make your visit magical and take care of anything you need. BTW--the food offerings are much more varied than donuts and crackers--but again, by your own admission you haven't had the concierge experience, so you really wouldn't know, would you?

I completely agree with you on concierge. I was upgraded to concierge once and I saw nothing special whatsoever except the food offerings and drinks. I certainly would never pay for it...like I could afford to anyway. But if I could, I see zero benefit above the food and doubt seriously that I would spend the money.

Now, one thing I do find special. I heard about The Sunrise Safari that's available to concierge guests at AKL. I think things such as that make concierge enticing. Let's face it...this is an expensive thing. I'd want more than water, cokes and snack foods. The breakfast selections are pretty good I think.

I've done concierge at Disney and at resorts around the country. Disney's level of concierge doesn't meet the levels you'll find at other hotels.

My Disney concierge stays have been limited to the Polynesian and Contemporary. Yes, we enjoyed them, and would probably do them again. But, in my eyes, I can get a near concierge experience by staying in a regular room at the Grand Floridian. We just returned on Friday. Each night you get turndown service (beds turned down with chocolates, drapes pulled, lights dimmed, soft music played, ice put in icebucket, used linens replaced). We got a complimentary refrigerator in our room for drinks (went to Goodings and purchased some) or leftovers. The resort staff was wonderful, always helpful and friendly. Front desk line wasn't ever long. We got a phone call from the staff to see how our stay was going and offered their assistance in PS's or reservations. The only thing we were missing was the "concierge guest" title and the food/beverages in a lounge.

But, this is all just my opinion. And, my opinion means the same as everyone elses. In your eyes things are different, in my eyes things are correct. There is just no way to justify personal experiences.

I agree, that would be special, but, you have to pay an extra $40 a head for that...on top of the concierge room charge.
