Restroom stall etiquette?

I was berated by a co-worker today for my choice of bathroom stall! Our ladies room has three stalls, one of which is handicapped-accessible. I'll only use that one if the other two stalls are busy. Otherwise, if the ladies room is empty, I prefer the middle stall, don't know why, it's just a habit I guess.

Well, my coworker told me that bathroom etiquette demands that the first person in a restroom should use an end stall, that way the second person in uses the OTHER end stall so they are not next to each other. I don't get this! It's a bathroom for cripes sake, we all know why we are in there! I know some people are shy, but why not just wait until the ladies room is empty then, rather than tell your coworker she's been peeing in the wrong place all this time?

Has anyone else heard of this bizarre etiquette or is she just crazy?

You're joking, right? LOL Sounds like your coworker is a little "off"! IMO, the first person in the bathroom can choose any stall he/she wants!

Nope, not a joke and I am glad I'm not the only one who thinks she is crazy! Let's just say she is a VERY outspoken woman and leave it at that

 That's what I would have done if she said that to me. I agree with HollyJoy that the first person has their choice.

Maybe she should quit worrying about which stall she goes in and just go because she's definitely full of it.

That's just plain crazy! They don't enforce that in my office.

I will say that one time when I was in the MK, I used the restroom. Now, it was a BIG room and there was nobody in there, only me. Another woman comes in and goes in the stall next to me. I thought it was a little odd, since there were so many other stalls available. Anyway, how do I put this, she made a lot of noise and smell in there  and I was hurrying to get out of there because I couldn't breathe. Now, if you know you you have to do something like this, wouldn't you try and go far away from someone else? I know I would have! I hope I don't sound like your crazy co-worker now! :D

Oh brother...doesn't she have better things to worry about than whose using what stall?

And Robmom, no, you are not crazy! I would also go as far away as possible!!!

Well, she's not a manager or supervisor, so I can't get in trouble for peeing in the wrong stall ;) It just confirms my belief that she's a little kooky.

Just crazy.

Although we had a woman in our office who would ONLY use the first stall. She waits for it even if all the others are empty. Never did figure that one out.

LOL Robmom! I'm so unlucky cause I can't hold my breath for very long.

A little Kooky? Your coworker is totally nuts!

But the real question is..will she spare a square?????

Wow.........I would have A LOT of fun with this lady. I would make SURE to go right next to her and start up a conversation, every time, while doing so.

Actually, not too long ago I believe there was a post about this. Not sure if it was this board or another one that I visit often. Anyway, same thing. A woman was reemed by another woman co-worker for not skipping a stall in the ladies. Apparently you are supposed to skip at stall at all times unless it is impossible.

As for me, I usually search out the cleanest stall and if it happens to be next to another person, oh well!

Well dang, I must have missed that chapter in Emily Post!
