Restrictions on "cabana" Beachcomber Shacks at Typhoon Lagoon

We are visiting a waterpark for our first time in August. There are 3 of us...one adult and my 2 kids DD17 and DS7...at this time of year, and in the heat, what would you suggest??? Cabana or renting 2 chairs with umbrella?? I am up for either, really the cabanas appeal to me a lot!!!! Do they have them at BB also?? which WP would you recommend?? We plan to stay the whole day.

We rented the chairs and umbrella last year at BB. Totally NOT worth it. The private section where the chairs are located is very secluded and was not at all useful. We found that we didn't really use the chairs as the kids were always in the water.

We arrived at park opening and had a fabulous spot...shaded and a few chairs all together. We would have been much better off staying there than moving to the reserved spot...which doesn't even open until later in the morning, by the way.

So, I see the comments about "renting" towels...so, silly question, but we can just bring our own, right? LOL!:rotfl:

I keep reading threads talking about people moving stuff off chairs - or taking towels, chairs, etc. I want a place where we can meet, without worrying about stuff being moved or taken or dumped on the ground.

We have been going since they opened and have never had any of our things touched, nor have we heard of it or seen it done. It may have happened (not saying it didn't) - just saying it is "not" a common occurrence . We would never spend $250 for towels (we prefer our own) refillable mugs (drink water when we are at water parks) and the privilege of being waited on. We spend most of our time away from our lounges anyway, so the money would be wasted. We also go early, and are ready to leave by 1-2pm so prefer to eat after we leave, except for a few snacks we may bring along with water in a soft-sided cooler. We have never not been able to find a nice spot - in or out of shade - to put our things - also have a waterproof box around our neck for keys, money, tickets. To each there own, but we prefer to spend the money on 3TS meals for two (or whatever). :goodvibes

Renting cabanas isn't just about the privledge of being waited on and paying for towels. We are doing it in July because it will be hot as heck and we prefer not to be burnt beyond belief. Its a nice place to get out of the elements and keep kids from being scorched, not to mention a great place to regroup every couple hours. It is everyone's personal preference as to how they spend their money, but to generalize is bit pretentious IMO.

Who is generalizing? I, for one, said "to each their own". We also don't stay in the hot sun and burn. We go early and get lounges in the shade :confused3

Any one else have pictures of the cabana's at TL?

Any one else would like to share their experiences... good or bad about the service they received?

This is the area we rented in June that was in between the surf pool and lazy river close to the Shark Reef. We had a great time. four shacks in the photo - 2 with blue umbrellas

It really comes down to what you want. It is expensive as everything at Disney tends to be. You can get more at other water parks for a cabana, but it turned out to be one of our relaxing days on property. No worries or concerns. Arrived on an early entrance morning and were the first to be escorted off to our "shack." Hit most of the slides with little to no wait. The shack provided a giaranteed home base. One member in our party spent the entire time read a book. That was a great time for this individual without interruption of others in the shade with food and beverage service. Note if you tip for adult drinks you are tipping the bar tender, not your server. Our servers were great. Had lunch at our shack when we wanted it and water/towels restocked. Beverage service was a breeze (self service) at a near-by station. Keep the shack area ropes up to ensure others do not start to make an encampment. If you are wanting to get away from the crowd and away from the chair hording variable with food and beverage service this might be something to consider. Limited supply of shack and they can rent out in advance in the Summer months.
