Restrictions on "cabana" Beachcomber Shacks at Typhoon Lagoon

Bumping because I'm also curious if anyone has a map with cabana locations. DH has given the green light to do this - I'm just trying to figure out if it would be worth it. Any new info from anyone who has recently rented - either the Beachcomber Shack or Getaway Glen Umbrellas would be great!

I'm going with a group and there will be 9 of us But my twins will only be 2 when we go so if I'm reading and understanding this correctly I could rent one which includes 6 people and then pay an extra 25.00 for the 7th person since my twins (numbers 8 and 9) would be free.

The Park maps do not show the locations of the Cabanas or reserved areas. And they do not show up on satellite views.

And although I work at Guest Services at TL, I cannot answer the question about the extra people as they are handled completely by Merchandise.

We will be at the world in July and my daughter really wants to visit a water park while we are there. I have not been to either of the water parks and have been kind of sidestepping the issue with DD but the cabana has peaked my interest. Are there umbrellas available to rent/reserve as well? Is this information listed anywhere on the WDW website? TIA!

There are a few sites with an umbrella, wooden chairs, and towels available for the day, as well as the cabanas. For any of these they must be reserved and paid in advance, call 407-WDW-PLAY. Some may be available on the day of visit if not rented in advance.

Otherwise, there are a few thousand loungers and lots of umbrellas, but these are on a first-come, first-served, basis.

The cabanas are located by the wave pool, towards the middle. If you were standing in the pool facing the wave, they are up on the right side.

We very much enjoyed having our own cabana. My only negative is that the runners can't come around very often. We were close enough to the drink station that we did our own refills.

Also, the cabanas do not have lounges where you can lay down. They are wooden chairs.

We will be renting again on our next visit.

Thanks Pakey! Did you tip the runners? I have heard they can't accept tips? Can you pull a lounger into the cabana area?

Anyone know the cost of the umbrella/chair rentals? Or a picture of them?

I'm wondering how much shade is provided and how obvious it is that these areas are reserved (so you don't have to fight off interlopers).

We were at Typhoon Lagoon this past June and while a cabana or umbrella seemed like a nice treat, there were TONS of chairs in shady spaces. We enjoyed our day there and put our towels on some shady chairs near the slides we were riding.

I keep reading threads talking about people moving stuff off chairs - or taking towels, chairs, etc. I want a place where we can meet, without worrying about stuff being moved or taken or dumped on the ground.

I definitely think the cabana would be worth it for $150, not sure about $250. But it has peaked my interest. I will have to bring this up with the hubby and see what he thinks. I may not want to give up a park day for a waterpark since we only have 5 park days but we will be at the beach the week after and it may be worth a ride down for the day....or the day we leave to go to the beach...spend day at waterpark then drive to our beach condo.....def. thinking about this now

does anyone know if these totally sell out??

Thanks for sharing the info everyone - I didn't even know these existed! They'd be perfect for our family.......dh and I would enjoy the cabana while our teen/young adult daughters are off enjoying some of the more adventuresome water features.

The lazy river is more my speed!! ;)

For that kind of money, I'd stay one more night in my room...or better yet my pool. I could see 50-75 dollars but 150.00 and up.......

The rental is full day only. No partial day prices.

That said, if you go on a day when there is availability (not all reserved), and get there a few hours after Park Opening (such as early afternoon), it may be possible to have a reduced fee for the remainder of the day.

Thanks Pakey! Did you tip the runners? I have heard they can't accept tips? Can you pull a lounger into the cabana area?

Yes, I tipped both runners since both had "run" for us throughout the day. I tipped 20% of the cabana cost, split between the two of them. They were not surprised to get the tip so I'm assuming that it's customary. I paid with a credit card for the food and alcoholic beverages so I was able to open a "tab" with my credit card on file. I tipped them at the same time that I closed out the tab at the end of our day there.

There is not room in the cabana to pull in lounges. There are some lounges located pretty close to the cabanas that you could perhaps snag by keeping towels on them but you wouldn't be able to fit them in the cabana.

The benefit of the cabana, IMO, is that you get guaranteed shade/seats together and a locker that's right there which is so convenient. We drank the heck out of the provided bottled water, we did order and have lunch delivered and the guys had a beer. We didn't use the mugs that much; they are huge mugs and we are not big soda drinkers anyway.

I don't honestly think they are worth $250. I do not do budget vacations so I don't care but for someone who does, I'd have to say that this would not be an area where I'd splurge if I had to pick and choose between treats on my vacation.

Any infor on this? I am very interested in chair/umbrella rental? More information would be great.

how much does it cost to rent at the end of March? Does anyone know?

An update on prices: I just called Disney and inquired about the price to rent either a beachcomber shack or a polar patio for the end of August. I was quoted the price of $319!! :scared1: Yikes!!

Also, I asked about adding on extra guests for $25 per person, and I was told that it wasn't an option. I have read about that being an option not only on this website, but on other sites too. Maybe the woman on the phone wasn't fully informed, or maybe they changed the rule.

We will be a party of 9 and I was told I would need to rent 2 cabanas. At $319 each, I don't think that will be happening. Too bad, because they look nice. :sad1:
