We will be going to AKL in April for 10 days. I am a little worried about the eating situation. I have read how some of the restruants, like Ohana take 2 hours to eat at. There is no way that they would ever last that long.

Here is my wish list so far:
Ohana - Dinner
50 Prime Time Cafe or Sci Fi - Lunch
Coral Reef Restraunt - Lunch
Whispering Canyon - Early Dinner before Campfire
Liberty Tavern - Character Dinner

We already have reservations at Cindy's for breakfast. And it sounds like the Crystal Palace Breakfast Buffet will be OK. So I have already planned those.

I wish they could do the kids club, but they are too young and I am a little hesitant about a babysitter in the room.

Thank you for any input.

We always bring cereal, bagels, granola bars, etc...something simple to eat in the room for b'fast before hitting the parks. Buffets or quick svc restaurants have always worked best for our family. LOVE CP & Flametree BBQ. At MGM we usually do Pizza Planet at lunch but this yr will be trying Sci Fi. I'm hoping the wait for food won't be too long. That's really the killer. We also like Chef Mickey's for dinner....or eating back at our hotel foodcourt when we return in the afternoon for quiet time. When the kids are older, we'll go back to doing some of the rest. we use to enjoy as a couple....but for now, keeping the kids happy, makes US happiest too.

Everyplace you mentioned has real kid appeal and lots going on. They should be fine everywhere. WE were out of Ohanna's in about an hour. The food starts comming right away! They also have games for the kids and if you hold on to then, a visit to the grill is pretty cool. 50's prime time is so happinging they will not get board. You can ask for a table where they can see the TV well if this might help. They also have glow in the dark ice cubes that are really cute. Get them the make it yourself sundee for desert and they will work on that long enough for you to enjoy your desert. Sci-fi of course has the movie. You will want to split them up for this place and put one with each adult in a seat. At coral reef they will love watching the fish. Ask for a table by the tank. WCC is so lond and fun that you might want to be there two hours. This meal really has taken us that long before. Pony races, dad's singing and lots going on. LTT is our favorite character meal. THe characters are great and we were only here a little less than a hour. The big thing is to make sure you have PS, avoid really busy times and try to keep the kids happy as you wait for the table. Perhaps one parent can wait in the lobby while the other takes the kids outside to run around. We have done all the places mentioned above. You will eat well!!

I think Chef Mickey's and 50's PT would work well. There is so much going on in both places. At 50's you can get crayons and also ask for the dessert menu, it's on a ViewMaster, that should be good for a little while! My DD's love to play with it. Eat, drink and be merry!

Donald's Breakfastosaurus in AK is very kid friendly, and you're right by the big boneyard playground

The McDonalds in Downtown Disney also is a fun change of pace

Crystal Palace has a kids' buffet, lowered down to their height, with Pooh & friends, it's a great choice. Sci-fi is another we always eat at. Most of the kids' in there are mesmerized by the movies playing, we ate and were gone in under a hour.

I'd love to say Rain Forest Cafe in AK, but while the atmosphere is great for them, the service is REALLY SLOW. For a 2pm lunch, at a slow time of year, with place half empty, it took two hours to eat and get out of there. Slowest place I have ever been.

Check this forum for Coral Reef-I've read from others' that it can be slow there.

the key to fast service at Coral Reef is:
get the first lunch ps of the day. Check in 15 minutes early and ask for a table by the fish. (If you don't get that, with 3 yo twins I'd leave). After you check in, read the menu in the lobby and decide on your order. When your server appears for drink orders, tell them you want to put in your food order right then, as you have a limited attention span dining window. This will get your food order first in line, and you won't get backed up.

Thank you for all of the great advice, especially about Coral Reef.

another general recommendation is, if you're scheduling a sit-down meal, is to make the PS for the earliest time--things are much calmer if you're the first in, and the wait times for food are much shorter.

We love the castle for lunch on the first seating in MK. Again, we check in early, which generally gets a seat by the window.
