Restaurants?

Hello Everyone! This is our first trip to Disney and we are looking for the scoop on the best (not necessarily most expensive) places to eat. We will be staying at one of the Deluxe Resorts so we should have easy access to just about everyplace. Since we haven't been there, we don't even know what each place's menu is like. Please advise.

Also, as I will be spending part of the day on my own I love any suggestions on what to do when flying solo.

If you want to see the menus, go to www.allearsnet.com and search under Dining. This site has all the menus for all the restaurants and snack bars at every resort and park. You can also check out the Disney Restaurants board. You'd probably get a better response! Have fun with your 1st trip!!

Character Dining

• Chef Mickey’s for dinner is a must. Expect to pay $22.00 each per adult and about $14.00 each for kids.
• O’HANA in Polynesian Resort. My personal favorite breakfast place. Expect to pay about $20.00 each for adults and $15.00 for kids.
• The Liberty Tavern is also good if you’re in the Magic Kingdom. I highly recommend this place over the Crystal Palace.

Casual Dining

• KONA Café in Polynesian resort for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Surprisingly good food and good value. Expect to pay $75.00 for dinner for the family. It’s nothing fancy but I like it.
• Concourse Steakhouse in Contemporary has a cheap and very good breakfast. It’s table service, not a buffet. Expect to pay $50.00 for breakfast for family of 3.
• For breakfast, eat at the “Bakery” on Mainstreet U.S.A. in the Magic Kingdom. It’s a grab and go cafeteria style place, but it’s cheap and fast if you can get by easting muffins, doughnuts, and danishes with great coffee. Feed the family for $25.00.
• A must – BOMA at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. An African dinner buffet with the best soups and great buffet selection. And cheap. One of my favorites.

Fine Dining

Get an in-room sitter and take the wife out to a night to remember.

• My favorite is Narcoosee’s in the Grand Floridian resort. Make the reservation an hour before the Magic Kingdom closes if possible so you can watch the fireworks on the balcony. Request a window seat when you arrive at the restaurant. Expect to pay $200.00 for two.
• Artist Point in Wilderness Lodge. 5 star. I suggest getting a “flight” of wine with dinner. Expect to pay $200.00 for two.
• Flying Fish on the Boardwalk. Amanda’s favorite place. I suggest getting a “flight” of champaign with dinner.
• JIKO in Animal Kingdom Lodge (not in the park). Amanda and I had our engagement dinner here. It’s amazing African food.
• California Grill on top of Contemporary Resort. Unbelievable.
• If you’re at MGM and want to see “Fantasmic” and want a guaranteed seat and a amazing dinner, go to Brown Derby and tell them you want to watch “Fantasmic”. They’ll give you special tickets to enter the show with great seats.
• If you’re at EPCOT eat at the Italy restaurant called Alfredo. Gorganzola pasta is really good.

Wow! Again, great advice, I am printing it all out to take home and make ressies at all the places! I heard that Coral Reef was really good, have you been there? I've also heard that you can scedule dinner at CG during Wishes, have you tried that? Sorry about all of the questions, but its hard to get good info. I'm really enjoying Dis though, lots of great people and great advice!!

Yessum they sure do .... Go to the site i first supplied -- the Intercot one and scroll down to Resort ection Click on SPIRIT OF ALOHA LUAU for all the info you want!

As for Coral Reef I have made ressies for this year. Haven't been before but have always liked the concept of watching the fishies.

WISHES FROM THE CG ARE WONDERFUL. BE SURE TO REQUEST A WINDOW SEAT. I TOOK MY HUSBAND FOR HIS FORTIETH BIRTHDAY. IT WAS VERY SPECIAL. THE DINNER SHOW AT THE POLYNESIAN IS CALLED THE SPIRIT OF ALOHA, I HAVE NEVER BEEN THERE, JUST HAPPEN TO KNOW THE INFO. OHANAS IS GREAT FOR ANY MEAL.

IT IS A CHARACTER BREAKFAST WITH LILO AND STITCH. IT IS PRICED RIGHT FOR A FAMILY STYLE BUFFET. WE HAD ALOT OF INTERACTION WITH THE CHARACTERS AND AS I REMEMBER THEY DID A PARADE WITH THE CHILDREN AROUND THE RESTAURANT. IT IS ONE OF OUR FAVORITES. THE FOOD IS GREAT. ALL OF THE FOOD IS GREAT AT OHANAS B,L, OR D.

regarding the poly breakfast, it's just a great atmosphere, not too crowded, amazing attention by the characters, fun games for the kids throughout breakfast, and it gives you the chance to tour my favorite resort at the same time.

as for the dinner show (luau), i went when i was a kid and it was fun...........but in my opinion doesnt come close the the hoop dee doo revue........thats a night you'll never forget.

oh yeah, and when you go to the california grill, find out when the magic kingdom closes and make your reservation an hour and a half beforehand.........that way you can watch the fireworks from your table. my suggestion is to go to your reservation at least 30 minutes before your priority seating and ask for a window seat (table 21 is the best).......you may need to wait a while but can grab a drink at the bar and take in the scene.........well worth it.

I called today and made ressies for all places. It took a few phone calls to get all of our plans in order... We were too late to get the Fantasmic Package at any of the participating places, bummer . I did manage to get us into Chef Mickey's though, which I'm really phsyced about. I realized that some places were actually easier to get ressies the bigger party you have . We were going to do most meals seperately, but I ended up doing most as a larger party because we could get better times! Who knew?! Anyways, CG is way booked, so we could only get in at 5:50 with Wishes at 8:00, but we're all about stretching it out so we can still see the show , he he he...
I ended up trading Ohana's for Chef Mickey's, nothing against the other, just that we are styaing at the CR, so its just easier to get to, and I liked the menu selection better.
Unfortunately, I was not able to get us all in at once to 50'sPTC, so we have two seperate tables, but I'm going to keep calling to see if anything changes there. I'm still bummed abotu the Fantasmic thing, maybe something will change, but I doubt it because that day is EH at MGM and there is only one show, so I'm sure everyone is clamoring to get in .
