Hello all!! I am traveling to Disney solo during the beginning of November and am looking for some yummy places to eat that have "counters". I read in one of the thousand book that I have read that the newer (and nicer) restaurants have counters strategically placed in them that are perfect for solo diners. Has anybody ever seen these and where?

Also, I am visiting during the end of November with my family and was wondering about 1900 park fare. We have already done numerous character meals over our many trips but never at this venue. Is it better for breakfast or dinner? What characters do you "usually" see?

Thanks so much for your help!!!!

Kimonos at the Swan has a sushi bar

I for the life of me can't recall any table service restaurant having a counter except for Beaches & Cream, unless you count the bars.

Thanks so much...I know that I read that I think it was in the Fommors (don't know if that's spelled right) 2005 WDW book. I think I remember seeing a counter in Ohano too...It is round...??

I believe Jiko at AKL has a counter where people can sit.

Rainforest Cafe (Animal Kingdom and Downtown Disney) has a counter with "stools" that have funny animal feet.

California Grill has a counter where you can eat at. It is right next to the bar!

You can also order off the full menu at the "bar" at 50's Prime Time in MGM. They had the nicest bartenders when we were there and stopped in for a breather.

I personally prefer 1900 park fare for breakfast. But that's just me. And as for characters it depends on which meal. Dinner is Cinderella themed. I don't remember who was there last time. It's been a while since we did dinner there. Breakfast is Mary Poppins themed. I know that last time we were there there was Mary Poppins, Peter Pan (in the lobby), Alice, Tigger and Eeyore but I think it sort of varies. As for the counters...I have no idea. I've never been alone. I do think I remember seeing one at Ohana though.

California Grill, Jiko, and I believe the Flying Fish(?) have counters at their open kitchen areas.

Yes, Flying Fish does have a counter. Wolfgang's also has a counter. Tempura Kiku in the Japanese pavalion is another counter place. You can order tempura or sushi there. You can eat the bar at Capt Jack (unless something has changed fairly recently you can't even sit at the bar unless you are eating something.

Portabello Yahct Club and Fulton's allow you to eat at the bar also.
