I know enough not to book any of the signatures with the kids, but what are some other restaurants I should avoid with small kids?

Honestly, it's WDW, kids (even small kids) will be everywhere, all the time. Anyone going there should expect it.

That said...I'd say anywhere in a theme park (even Chefs de France) is fair game, right up until closing. In fact, I'd say any restaurant would be ok up to around 9 PM.

Seeing as how you're obviously considerate of other peoples desires, after 9 PM, I'd suggest avoiding: California Grill, Cape May Cafe, Captain's Grill, Citrico's, Flying Fish Cafe, Il Mulino, Kimono's, Kouzzina, Narcoosee's, Paradiso 37, Shula's, Victoria & Albert's, The Wave, Wolfgang Puck Grand Cafe and the Yachtsman Steakhouse.

I just want to commend you for being thoughtful in this area.

We are a childless couple and unless the children are really disruptive we really don't mind them at all.

I would go with the above post... Lately, we've just dined at Paradiso 37 at DTD. Any restaurant in Epcot up to the fireworks is o.k. in my opinion. Even then nothing is really a rule and appreciated if your children are monitored :)

Other than Victoria & Alberts (where kids under 10 aren't allowed at all) and Bistro de Paris (which doesn't have a kids' menu), there aren't any restaurants that I'd avoid with kids. Even the signatures have plenty of children dining there, especially early in the evening. For signature dining, the bar type/live entertainment restaurants in Downtown Disney, and the four signature type restaurants at the Swolphin, I'd steer clear of late evening seatings with young children but otherwise it isn't something to be concerned about.

Hello there UnderCoverMama!

I've gotten into some heated debates over topics very similar to this one because I don't think people understand what I'm trying to say or the point I am trying to make.

I, like Vivianne, would like to commend you for being thoughtful of others and actually being aware that you are not the only family there. That being said I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH KIDS ... I have a problem with OBNOXIOUS kids and Moms and Dads who think that being on vacation also means a vacation from being a parent!

Listen, I understand that Disney is for kids and I understand that children sometimes have little episodes or moments but I get annoyed when parents don't watch their children or have any respect for others. If your child is screaming bloody murder don't just sit there and let it happen ... take them out for a minute until they calm down! Don't let them PLAY at the buffet and YOU KNOW what your kids will and will not eat so why do we have to stand there for 10 minutes asking and debating about what they want while there are 2 dozen people standing behind you waiting to get some food.

I never thought this was asking too much but I seem to get smacked down every time so I guess I have super high standards. BUT ... BUT ... I can tell that you UnderCoverMama are different because YOU took the time out to ask because you care! :goodvibes Anyone who does that is ACES in my book! :thumbsup2

So with all that being said ... go where ever you'd like to eat ... whether it's a little quick burger joint or a signature restaurant like Ohana or Citricos because if you are even HALF as considerate as you sound you will be more than fine!!! :flower3:

THANK-YOU!!!

Our general rule for dining with the kiddos anywhere..."if they offer a kids menu...." Now my boys are older (10 and 12) so we can go anywhere!

Only you know your kids. For me, I couldn't take them anywhere...even Mickey d's at 8 or 9pm! It was passed bedtime and they wouldn't have sat for a second!
They weren't nappers on vacation!!!:scared1: I was always amazed when I saw kids out that late sitting nicely and eating dinner!

At 5 or 6pm, we'd be okay. One thing that always drove me nuts, was when a waiter would bring their food first. (I started telling them not too) Once they were not hungry anymore they just wanted to leave. That left me and my husband shoveling food down our throats. I found them easier to entertain when they were hungry!

I'm sure you'll be fine dining at most places in WDW by just using your instincts. have fun!!!!!

Well-behaved children will not be objected to at any WDW restaurant at any time (except Victoria & Alberts - children under 10 are not permitted to dine there at all).

Listen, I understand that Disney is for kids

But it's not. Not exclusively.

We've never gone later than 6:30 for dinner so we should be fine. I am going to avoid world showcase because as much as I try to raise my kids to be polite in restaurants, my then three year old may be a bit unpredictable... I think in Epcot we will stick to counter service or garden grill.

And thank you for the kind words but I must admit I am not only asking for the other diners but because I don't want to put my kids or myself in an awkward situation.

Thanks for all the responses, I appreciate it.

This is my kids as well. They could not hang eating dinner at 8 or 9 pm. They would be tired and WAY beyond hungry. We always eat early, even at home. :)

It really all depends on your kids,my kids are very well behaved in public and know how to handle a resturant ,we get compliments from other diners all the time on how good they are, but my nephew can't handle public places at all and it is always a stressful event for everyone, that can make or break an experience.
