Restaurants to avoid

Hi, first time in Florida in July with 3 DS, not staying onsite and only have breakfast included offsite, does anyone recommend any offsite places to eat or places to avoid, dont want to spend too much on evening meal thinking about $100 per night for 2 adults and 3 childrenx

For cheap food try Friendly's, Applebee's, TGI Friday, Perkins, Chilis, Denny's etc. They can be hit and miss but we've had nice meals at all of them. The mot consistent of the bunch has always been TGI Friday. I think last time we were there they had a deal where you got two courses for $10.

None of these are gourmet cuisine but will feed 5 hungry people. Think Wetherspoons-style. Wetherspoons deep fried...

Cheaper options we like are Friendley's, village inn, mannys chop house, flippers pizza, perkins, steak and shake.

which area are you staying? if its international drive theres plenty of places to eat that are really great price,plus the best thing about any American restaurant is free refills and huge portions!My boys aged nearly 7/7/10 drink like FISH!!! easily would go through 3 or 4 drinkseach if I allowed"which i dont" but if its a refill place they make the most of it

We normally get a adult meals between them and order and extra side,Or even 2 kids meals plus we get 1 refill drink between Dh and I and 1 between the kids.This brings the cost down quite abit!
My boys loved the Mcdonalds as its the largest in the world(something like that) and has a huge floor of games where you get tickets for prizes,

We also really like TGI's never had a bad meal mmmmm Jack daniels ribs!!!

I agree, we love places like TGI's, Denny's, Chillis etc. around I-Drive. Cheap but delicious and good quality, they're great value.

We are venturing off site as well for 4 nights and have the same concern. We are staying at the orlando international gateway. Dont know where it is near Havent looked yet. anyone know if there is a ponderosa or sizzlers near by? How much are these places for breakfast for 2ad and 2 children? Trying to budget

Olive Garden is very good too! Italian and very reasonable prices! Huge portions of pasta on the dinner menu though!

Outback is a good steak place too!

my children loved (and want to go back next visit) Cici's pizza - all you can eat pizza buffet - nothing marvellous but acceptable. Denny's was a surprise to us - I didn't expect to like it but I did. If your children are younger then it might be worth looking into a Kids Eat Free card - we saved loads on our last 3 trips by having them for our 2. Sadly for our next visit DD will be too old but we may still get one for DS as it pays for itself really quickly. There are lots of all you can eat buffet places (like Ponderosa, Sizzler, Golden Corral) which are good value and usually off something for everyone. Personally we avoid Ponderosa as we don't enjoy it there, but I know lots of others that do.

Thanks for all the replies, just been looking on the menus online making myself really hungry, We are staying at Springhill suites at Seaworld so I Drive is just around the corner, looks like we would have lots of choice although we have booked one adr for Rose and Crown at Epcot but more for the firework viewing, booked for 7.45 so hope we have timed it about right x

For the record, sharing free refill drinks is generally frowned upon. Much in the same way that sharing a buffet would be. Sorry

If you are near seaworld definitely try village inn - takes the kids eat free card or free pie with a main on a Wednesday. Flippers pizza is also near Seaworld.

If you're looking for something relatively healthy after all the fries and burgers try Sweet Tomatoes. Great value and kids seem to enjoy it.

Another tip. Register on the websites for the places you are thinking of visiting and you will get coupons for free starters or BOGOFs.

I assume the OP means the Best Western on Universal Blvd. There's a few cheap eats nearby - iHop, Sweet Tomatoes, Red Lobster, Ponderosa, KFC, Burger King, Chilis etc.

It's a best western international gateway. Iv managed to find a few places there is a sizzler at least lol. It's clean and sounds ok for the money we paid for the four nights. Thankyou for asking

Dont forget you can always pick up loads of voucher books that have discounts in them. Sign up with all the restaurants and they will also send you money off coupons.

You will not miss them, they are available in lots of places including lots of hotel foyers. Also if you go to the florida mall and go into Macys you can also get another discount card from guest services because you are from the UK.

As other poster said go to all the web sites for the chain food stores and a few days before you go register with them and put your birthday for when you are in Orlando (yes lie) and they will send you a discount coupon for use on your birthday...so make sure you put in different dates for all the ones you register with
