Restaurants That Require ADRs

I am sure that this has been covered before, so a link to a previous thread would be great. I am just trying to get an idea of which restaurants generally require ADRs. I tried to search but couldn't find any old threads that specifically answer this. My wife and I are going to be in WDW the first week of December. I don't like the idea of having to plan meals 6 months out, but I don't want to miss out at eating at some restaurants.

Pretty much every Table Service restaurant will require an ADR, as will Be Our Guest for Breakfast and Lunch, at which time it is technically Counter Service, but requires an ADR anyway.

That's why there is no list. Any wait-service meal will need an ADR unless you want to roll the dice, eat at very odd hours, and possibly get turned away anyway.

I just tried searching what is available for 2 people tomorrow night for dinner. Lots of decent reservations came up. You will definitely be able to eat somewhere the first week of December as long as you are not too picky.

Depending on when you are going - there are definitely some restaurants that you can get without ADRs. Not the popular ones but definitely some good ones. (Without ADRs - I mean not that far in advance). Once you are there you can make these the day before. We went in April and July and were able to get many in EPCOT. The restaurant in Morocco, Japan, China and the UK. We love Captains Grille in the Yacht Club and that you can get without an advance ADR. Also some of the restaurants on the Boardwalk and many restaurants at Disney Springs.

I would make some reservations in advance but know that you can make other reservations when you get there. Again this does depend on when you are going. Enjoy!

There are lots & lots of places that can wait until you're much closer to your trip to book (or that you can book earier in the day on the day you want to go) but then there are some that are nearly impossible to get if you don't book at 6 months (unless you're willing to hawk the dining site several times a day looking for cancelations). Those would include places like BOG, O'Hana and Le Cellier. If you think you might want to eat at any of those I would go ahead & book them at 6 months and cancel later if you change your mind. Wait to book any of those and THEN decide later that you want to go & it will just turn into frustration. We were just there last week and we often eat at Via Napoli in Epcot but I didn't book it ahead of time. We attempted sort of spur of the moment to get it for lunch on 2 diff. days but the only times available were at like 2:00 or 3:00 and we were park hopping by that time in the afternoon so it never worked out that we could be in the park at those times. If we didn't have those darned fast passes to work around we could've done it. I also hate planning 6 months ahead because plans change and I usually wait until right before we go for anyplace other than the ones I just mentioned. For our June trip I went ahead & booked O'Hana and BOG dinner just because I didn't want to have to hawk the site every day when we get closer. Everything else will wait until we get closer to the trip & I have a feel for what we may want (like we want to add a meal at the Garden Grill in Epcot but I don't know yet lunch or dinner or what day so I'm holding off on that one for now as I think it has decent availability).

Can anyone tell me how ADR's work if your staying at an offsite hotel? Hubby and I are booking 6 nights at Hilton Lake Beuna Vista prior to transferring to Pop Century. When can we book at Boma for example?

180 days prior.

If you are dining at Boma while you are staying offsite you will have to wait until 180 days prior to the day you want to dine at the restaurant.

Once you have transferred to Pop Century you will be staying onsite so you will be able to book reservations for your Pop stay starting 180 days from your check in day for the length of your Pop stay up to 10 days (180 + 10).

We are going January 30th and I didn't even book until January 4th, so as you can see I was really at a disadvantage as far as ADRs. Well I am pleased to report that when I leave tomorrow, I will do it knowing I have Ohana dinner, BOG dinner, CRT dinner, Narcoossee brunch, Wishes Fireworks Dessert Party, California Grill, Akershus breakfast, Le Cellier, etc. So while this isn't TYPICAL, it isn't hard toget dining reservations closer to your trip - even hard to get ones. There are always people who cancel and if you check diligently, you may get lucky.
