Restaurants Open on Thanksgiving Day?

Do the offsite restaurants remain open or are we going to have to try to find somewhere to eat in the parks?

Also interested in this as we may be looking to eat off-site on XMAS day, and I assume the same restaurants would be open for Thanksgiving.

My DH wants to eat at Joes Crab Shack on Thanksgiving Day so I gave them a call and they said NO not open. We are bummed and i was a bit surprised since so many tourists are in the area I thought they would be.

Bob Evans is not opened. We found that out last year. Bennigan's is and their Turkey dinner is actually not too bad!

As a generalization, your very high-end restaurants will be open (almost always doing a special Thanksgiving menu), and your very low-end 24/7 restaurants will be open (Dennys, Awful Waffle). The ones in the middle--most casual chains, pizza places, fast food joints--tend to close.

If you have a place in mind, probably best to call a week or so in advance to verify. If you decide to go high-end, might want reservations as well.

There are some great off-site choices. Columbia, in Celebration (my #1 choice.), The Gaylord Palms, and Mimi's Cafe (www.mimiscafe.com)

We have had Thanksgiving dinner at Mimi's Cafe here in Colorado a few times. It is excellent. They put together a wonderful Thanksgiving plate that includes soup AND salad, and desert. It's a great value. The main dish includes turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes and a veg. Their regluar menu is available too (My husband prefers to order the salmon). If you've never eaten there, their menu is extensive and varried (and everthing I've ever ordered has been very good).

I see they have a location in Kissimmee (1251 W OSCEOLA PKWY). Here in Coloraod you need to make a ressie weeks in advance (for Thanksgiving, that is).

We learned the hard way that McD's is the ONLY thing open after the parks close. We ended up waiting an hour in the drive thru line!!! We now bring a cooler with sandwich fixins and leave in the hotel room. We eat when we get back to room! ha ha
