Restaurants off property

So with 2 kids under age 3, a place like Roy's isn't going to work. Plus it's really expensive so not a good option if you're on a budget.

I second the suggestions for Pizza Press. One of the DIS podcasts recently had a review of this place and said it was great food at a very affordable price. Plus you can walk there. It's super close to where you are staying. And if your little ones are especially cranky, you can easily get the food to go and eat back at your room if you have to.

Or.....have daddy take the cranky tikes back to the hotel, while you enjoy the peace and quiet at the restaurant by yourself. :)

My oldest has SPD, so fancy restaurants are kind of out. I said no chains because I was thinking more along the lines of Denny's. I abhor Denny's. Lol! Gisele, I think that might be a really good idea. If only I could talk him into that!

I know this is super casual, but my family is already looking forward to eating at Earl of Sandwich in DTD our first evening in Anaheim. Eating outside, soaking up Disney atmosphere, inexpensive...it works for us!

If you don't mind a little stroll down Katella, there are a couple diner type places near the Annabella. One named Tiffy's and the other Coco's.

OMG PLEASE don't eat at either Tiffy's or Coco's - exactly your worst nightmare if you hate Denny's. They're like Denny's on a worse day! :headache:

I'm with this idea and plan on doing it on my next quick trip. It's fairly cheap, the sandwiches are soooo good (good enough for my picky son and wife), and the outdoor seating is just great. Plus, if you pick up some beignets from Ralph Brennan's, you can have a nice dessert to boot. But this is for the shoestring budget...certainly not nice or elegant in any way. Which fits my family perfectly.

LOL! And stay away from Captain Kidd's. Seriously no one has anything good to say about this buffet. It's cheap and they advertise that outside, but I guess the food is AWFUL.

Do you know of Earl of Sandwich's complimentary sandwich offer? If not, sign up for their E club several days before your trip. Then watch for a coupon email from them. For each member of your family that has a email address, each person may sign up. Print out your coupons and your ready to go. :)

Enjoy!

Thanks! We will have a car, but my hubs doesn't want to drive after we've driven to get there. At least that was our thought for right now! A restaurant right by the hotel sounds nice! We do love pizza.

When I get on deck, the first place I want to be at is a Mexican restaurant. I went to the Los Cotijas on Euclid last time I was there. I'm still dreaming about the fish tacos.

I also LOVE EOS!! We are going to WDW in Oct and that is on our list because we liked it so much last summer at DL!! And next summer when we go back to DL it will be on our list again (we don't have that in our area)

Earl of Sandwich is another favorite of ours. Super cheap compared to everything else in DTD. If you need a walk and a little immersion into the DL atmosphere it is a great place to eat.

If your child has SPD, whatever you do, DO NOT go to Rainforest Cafe. It seems like a fun kid friendly place but it is a nightmare for SPD.

Looks like CA is excluded in the happy hour at Ruth's Chris according to the bottom where it states this ad not intended for residents of CA. Anyone have any experience in Anaheim?

ETA, maybe it just Fresno.

I think that has something to do with the legality of advertising drink specials. On the pull-down menu it says that Fresno only has $8 food for happy hour. I'm perpetually curious. It mentioned Virginia, and apparently over there happy hours can be advertised, but not specific alcoholic drink prices/discounts until you arrive at the bar. Same for Oregon.

My in-laws are in town and we just came back from the happy hour at our closest Ruth's Chris. It was really good. $8 each item, which go for $14 to $20 all other times.

So the OP has a child with a sensory processing disorder. OP - do certain types of restaurant situations aggravate your child more than others? For example, if the tables are really close together or if it's really loud and noisy or certain lighting conditions? What types of restaurants does your family enjoy back home?

She generally does okay in restaurants. I just wouldn't take her to a nice one because if she does have a melt down I don't want to disturb people that have paid a lot of money! Lol! We generally do pizza joints and chains. That's why I was looking for something other than a chain!
