Are there restaurants that are close to CityWalk (Universal Blvd. area) that we can walk to easily from the CityWalk area. Our family is staying at Hard Rock and I'm looking to venture out to Orlando Ale House or other restaurants that we can get too? Looking for something we haven't been to before and we have tried it all on CityWalk.

you can definately walk to the ale house - it's right across the street. In that same lot there is a Golden Corral & a Burger King. There is a TGIFridays in the Holiday Inn that is also across the street - oh & behind the Holiday Inn there is a Cracker Barrel.

HTH!!

There's also a Denny's. a Wendy's and a Japanese restaurant in that same area. But, whatever you do be very careful crossing Kirkman Road to get to that area. Hundreds of people cross it each day walking to the parks but it's a major street with tons of traffic coming off and heading on to I-4 and is the scene of several accidents every year.

Thanks for the info and advice about the traffic. I was wondering if there was a safe way to cross that since we have kids in tow. Maybe we should take a taxi, is there a taxi stand at Citywalk? And would they take us a short distance?

Welcome aboard. I can show you what the road looks like here.

If you are dragging kids, then I'd recommend you rent the car and drive over. You'll pay $7 a night for parking at the HRH, and gas. But the convience factor makes up for it. Then you can go anywhere.
Two adults could easily make the walk, but dragging the little ones will wear them out. Unless you make it an "adventure" and they're up for a little walk.

There are traffic signals at the intersection of Kirkman Road and Major Blvd. so it's really a simple matter of looking both ways before you cross the street. The traffic in that area usually isn't too bad but since it is a major feeder road for the residents of the area (there are thousands of apartment and condo complexes as well as the Metro West community nearby) so it can get heavy without much trouble. I would consider taking a cab if you wanted to venture out even further...there are quite a few restaurants just a mile or so away at Millenia as well.

Or you can just take a bus over to International Dr., closer to the Sea World area. There are tons of resturants in that strip there as well as other little exhibits and amusements. Also, if you havent tried them, the hotel resturants are excellent, especially at PBH, Mama Dellas is a great place to get a bite to eat.
