I'm staying with friends at the Solana Resort in Davenport. I must, must, must save money on this trip! I'll be eating in the villa at least half the time, but my hosts are going to want to eat out, and will insist on my presence, no doubt. Are there any really good, cheap, maybe Italian or steakhouse restaurants in the area?

Same question, but also in the Seaworld area, the Universal/IOA area, and the Busch Gardens/Tampa area. With all these tickets, I have to save money somewhere!

there is also an italian at champions gate that does pizza and pasta but i have forgoten the name

Not far from The west end of 27 on 192 is a small Italian called Bruno's .It is opposite Lighthouse Key and is well worth a visit. There is also a Cracker Barrel and Beef O'Brady's not far from Solana.

Pepperon'. This place looks small but it is actually pretty good. We had take out from there fairly regularly when we lives in ChampionsGate.

If you are looking for Chinese food, go to Chinese to Go on the corner of 27 and Ronald Regan (54). Avoid China One in ChampionsGate. Just my opinion...

We stayed at the Solana resort last December, and it was really nice. There are alot of restaurants around that are very reasonably priced. There is a Perkins, and a chinese food place. Plus there was a strip mall that had some other restaurants too. We were on a budget going as well, and we ended up comming home with some money...lol well my husband spent most of it at the airport on extras, but it was money that we *could* have had...lol

"Zen" in the Omni Resort at Champions Gate is a wonderful restaurant. A must do.

Drive down 27 to Haines City to Manny's chophouse. There is always a wait...just a sign that it is that good. I'm from Haines City and every time I go there I hit Manny's several times. The prices are great and the food even better. They give you fresh rolls and a great cobb like salad.

don't go to peperon' its expensive there isn't a variety to their menu.

Not every restaurant needs 200 items on their menu. Pepperon' has a decent menu for a small Italian place. This is more than just a plain old pizza shop. The quality of food is better than pretty much anything in the CG area (except in the Omni).

bumping...any more suggestions close to Universal? Seaworld?

I actually did not like Pepperon' either but just up on 27 N before 192 @ Polo Park there is DiRomio's. I prefer them much better.
Everyone is right about Manny's, and Weds I believe is their 2 for 1 fajitas, but you need to get there early or prepare to wait! The chophouse salad is my favorite.
Chinese in the area is no good.
There are some new places going into Cagan Crossing a few more miles up 27N, some are open some are not. Looking forward to the Latin Cafe/Tropical Bar, but unfortunatly that is not close to opening yet. There is also a China 2 Sushi & Steak place there, I have the sushi menu but not the regular menu and they are open.
Since you are on a budget, explain to your hosts. I have had several people down, and since I live here I can't afford a vacation and meals out each time some one visits. A nice steak on the grill and some good wine at home is just as great as going out. I am sure if you explain they will understand.

DiRomio's makes great pizza. That was quite a find and we found it the first weekend we moved here. (TUSCAN HILLS). Their pizza is NEARLY as good as NYC pizza.

I haven't been to Manny's but have been told it's OUTSTANDING!

I have found a few decent chinese places, actually. None really worth mentioning, though. I'd say the one on 192 and 27 (in the publix shopping center) works for me.

I LOVE SUSHI. what's the best place?

I'm actually glad this thread was resurrected from last year, because I'm going again this year, same area, and still on a budget. I'll have to check out Manny's, I think, during this trip. Is it a place that people might be comfortable going solo? This time I leave the friends at home...

I think you will be fine dining alone at Manny's. You can sit at the bar or at a table.

It really is a great place to eat. Enjoy!!
