What restaurants will keep a 14 month old most interested and amused? We've been to Disney lots of times, but this is the first time with our child. He loves to look at things, so I'm getting more and more excited about all the fun stuff he'll get to see and do. (Yeah. I know he won't remember any of it, but we will!!!! :))

Off the top of my head...Sci-fi diner? I've heard the little ones like Coral Reef because of the aquarium? We like the teppanyaki place in Epcot, but I wonder if he'll sit through that? What are other good restaurants that have interesting things for toddlers to look at?

Thanks!
Roxanne

I haven't actually taken a child to Disney but I bet any restaurant with character dining would be excellent for a 14 month old. (As long as they aren't frightened of them) Liberty Tree Tavern dinner in MK is great because they have child friendly food and the characters circulate constantly around the room so there will never be lack of entertainment.

Our favourite restaurant when our children visited (they were 5 and 20 months) was the Crystal Palace. Pooh Bear and friends. To be honest we didn't have any bad experiences at WDW restaurants. No problems getting high chairs/children's meals. Our daughter dropped a plate at the Maya Grill but no fuss was made by the server and they had her giggling again in no time. I know a lot of negative comments are made on these boards but at the end of the day go with your child's capabilities. Mine don't do leisurely meals. Book it off peak, go in, eat and back out. Fill them so full of food that they spend the next hour sleeping it off in the stroller!

Have a wonderful time.

MY Ds was 18 mths old when we took him last year and he loved Crystal Palace & Chef Mickeys. I found any buffet or all you can eat place was much easier than any of the other restaurants, because you didn't have to wait to order, then wait for the food, etc. He's great in restaurants, but eating in restaurants every day for a week is hard on a kid too. I found the buffets to be a great time saver.:thumbsup2

Rainforest Cafe. My DS loved the fishtanks even more than the animals. The "thunderstorms" were not an issue. He spent the whole time watching his favorite fish swimming around... I swear I could have fed him liver and onions and he would have eaten it he was so distracted...and he is about as picky as they get!

Thanks for the suggestions! We're staying in one of the villas, so we'll probably do some breakfast and lunches there. I'm so excited!

PS. I'm a mom to a redhead too! I really want to get him a Peter Pan costume for our trip. :)

any of them except, maybe, the signature ones...it just depends on the child. I could have brought my first to CG...but NOT my 3rd. ;)

SF, MM, CP, RFC, Tony's, should all be fine. Brown Derby might be iffy....

My MIL was sooo excited when my son was born with the peach fuzz on his head - 3 of her 4 kids were redheads (including my husband), and out of the 9 grandchildren, mine is the only one with red hair.
She tells me he'll always be easy to find in a crowd...

Believe it or not, I actually talked my DH into being Peter Pan for the Halloween party last year. My DS was Captain Hook and I was Tinkerbell. He figured no one he knew would ever see him in costume at MK so why not...

Hi,
I've been to WDW twice with 14 months old. We went the first time with our twins when they were 14 mos and again last year when my youngest was 14 months and the twins were about 3.5
IN general we have found that (and remember, all children are just different):
Buffets are great...fast easy and your little person can try lots of things...our favorites were cape may cafe and Boma
If you are an a park, we like eating outside so the kids can see the hustle bustle and mess is less of an issue...our favorites are Pecos Bill in MK and Flaming Tree in AK
For sit down meals our favorites were Whispering Canyon and Jiko...but please consider the following...when we went to whispering canyon it was partly because we were staying at WL so it was really convenient...our youngest at the time was not a huge loud noise lover. We had to ask the waiter to please not scream when we needed ketchup because she would cry We were lucky because all our waiters were very happy to oblige..who wants to see a cute crying baby at WDW? ;) Anyway, no one screamed at our table and she got used to it. In terms of Jiko, we were just lucky that our girls are just really good....not all kids can do it and depending on the day, they may not have sat either.
Eat dinner EARLY so your little person doesn't turn into the Tasmanian devil. Also, if there is a good place within walking distance of where you are staying then Go for it. Convenience is the name of the game when you go with a little one.
Finally, just remember this...don't expect to do all the stuff you did before you had a child. Move slow, take it easy and honor nap time above all else!
Good luck,
princess: SSS
