Restaurant to see Illuminations?

I'm going to be in WDW for a week in December (2005) and am bringing some friends for their 1st visit!! I'd like them to see Illuminations without fighting crowds, but still have good seats.. Are there any places other than Mexico, the hidden garden, etc. where we can have dinner, have good seats and not be in a crowd? Thanks!!

Guaranteed? The only option there is an Illuminations cruise.

You could take your chances at Rose & Crown, but there's only a 1/3 chance of getting a view of Illuminations that way.

I would recommend Rose & Crown for Illuminations viewing. We had a terrace seat (yes, we were lucky), but the hostess told us that we could go out onto the terrace to watch if we were seated inside. We had a 7:50pm seating time and were seated a little after 8pm.

Thanks! for the advice! The Rose and Crown is one of my favorites too! For this trip (to be blunt) my problem is that my friend isn't as patient with crowds that can get "pushy" as I am.. I'd hate to have him just get angry at "rude" people and have it ruin the first time he saw the show. On the other hand, I don't want to be behind a tree either... So, I'm trying to find a way I can "pay my way into a nicer location" or something. Someone suggested the Illuminations cruise boat, which is a possibility...

But, being one of the extroverts who don't really mind the crowds, I agree with you that the Rose and Crown has been one of my favorites! I think I saw the show from about where you described once, YEARS ago.. The cantina in Mexico is my other standby (and I did sneak into the hidden garden one year

I'd also go with rose and crown, but there is a beach across from stormalong bay at the yacht and beach club that is quiet and gives you a great view, I can't quite remember if they pump in the music or not though. but you actually could hear it from over there i'm thinking.

yes rose and crown is the best we had a spot right by the water. Great viewing. But make a PS a bit earlier then request a seat and stretch it out!
The illuminations cruises sound great we tried to book one for our upcoming trip they are ALL book...so book EARLY or else
