Although I had read that Disney had begun automatically adding 18% to the retaurant bills I forgot about it on my last trip and added about $40.00 in extra tips without looking at the bill. I finally remembered and just signed charge slip when 18% was added.

It was my own fault but I feel like I should have been alerted by the waiter?

In restaurants where teh tip is added automatically, like large groups, they tell you beforehand.

Anyone else get caught with this?

no , but i've heard this... do they not write 18 percent added on the bill??

Yeah people need to make sure to check, but they should have it in bold that its already added.

I almost fell for that a few years back. It actually made me mad that they took 18 percent automatically because the server didnt deserve a dime. Dont get me wrong, I have no problem with a good percentage tip but when you go to a restaraunt and pick-up your own food, the server brings you one drink and is never seen again do they really deserve 18 percent?

they only add 18% automatically if: You are using the Disney Dining Experience, or: Your party consists of 6 or more people. 18% is not automatically added otherwise. Dining Plan bills are printed with suggested tip amounts, one of which is 18%.
