I seriously need some help. We decided to drop the Mickey ears for our guests and have meal somewhere. I need help with the restaurant. We want somewhere affordable, since we are paying. It isn't going to be a private meal or anything. Just a ADR somewhere.

We want somewhere that's nice but not too fancy, as we're not the fancy sort. :rotfl: Somewhere we can wear wedding attire, which means not in the parks anywhere. And somewhere that's near the Boardwalk if at all possible.

Any suggestions?!?! I have to book this weekend, so I really need help! :scared1:

TIA!!

Yachtsman Steakhouse at the Yacht Club is a signature restaurant, but definitely not over-the-top in fancy-schmanciness.

There is also bluezoo at the Dolphin, but it carries a more stuffy vibe IMO. However, I think it was Boston Disney Bride who had a gorgeous meal there.

And then if you'd like some place a little less expensive, you could always try the [relatively] new Cat Cora restaurant... the name excapes me... is it Kouzina or something like that?

Heck, you could even do Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club. Not fancy at all, but good food.

I should also say that this would be lunch, since our wedding is at 10am at SBP. I think our "affordable" is $25-$35 pp. Would love for it to be less than that.. but from the research I've done, the ones that are less than that look really plain? I guess you'd say that. Thanks!

Hmm...I think you will get more options if you move outside the Boardwalk area if at all possible. I'm thinking The Wave, the Grand Floridian Cafe, and Kona would be good mid price options that serve lunch. Cape May and Kozzina don't do lunch. There's the Big River Grill and Brewing Works and ESPN club.

I remember reading a terrific report about the Grand Floridian Café! Of course, I can't remember who/when, but they had great service and they were really accommodating.

Our best resort meal last trip was at Sanaa, but it's kind of far from The Boardwalk (Animal Kingdom Lodge). We had the best service of the whole trip, loved the food, and I liked the ambiance of it. It's kind of a different feel if you wanted something with a little "wow" without the price tag!

Oops, wanted to add that I THINK if you contact restaurants some will do up a fixed menu for your group. So you could remove those heftier priced items. :goodvibes

I suggest that you look into The Grand Floridian Cafe or The Wave at the Contemporary Resort. Both offer a "classy" ambiance without the hefty receipt!

If you want to go a little more unconventional, then Whispering Canyon at the Wilderness Lodge (barbecue) is open for lunch... it's a "rowdy" restaurant with interactive servers. Very funny, and good with large groups.

I looked at the Whispering Canyon and the food options. All I can picture is me sitting there eating baked beans and dropping a giant spoonful on my dress!! :lmao:

I like the GF Cafe. It's nice. What about the Garden Grove? Is that too childish looking inside?? Hard to tell from pics.

The Garden Grove gets mixed reviews....

IMO, it feels like you're sitting in a mall food court or something. It's got that echo.... that loud roar!

We are having our Welcome Dinner at Big River Grille at the Boardwalk. We are also not "fancy" people, and we love beer (haha!) so it was a good choice for us. They have a function menu, and we chose one for $35 which includes a salad/soup, an entree, and dessert (plus sodas and coffee/tea). Not sure if you would want to wear wedding attire in here...:goodvibes

We looked at that one also. But since it's for after the wedding ceremony, we decided not to. I'm just looking for an excuse to keep the dress on longer! :rotfl: We're not drinkers though.. but my Dad is for sure!!!

We're having a luncheon in the private room at the Wave after our VR. There will be 22 of us and the menu is fixed, but has several choices and includes dessert for $37 each (there is also a kids' menu available). The manager there has been wonderful to work with!

I say try the Grand Floridian Cafe. Classy and elegant atmosphere without the extra $$$. Also, there is Captain's Grille at the Yacht Club, which has a friendly atmosphere and great food! :) Sanaa at AKL Kidani would be fantastic, but it is slightly far away. I don't know if all the guests would want to make the trip, but it would definitely be worth it!! :thumbsup2 There is also the Turf Club at Saratoga Springs, which is a little hidden gem. :lovestruc The food is excellent and well-priced, and I personally love the atmosphere, upscale enough for this girl! :)

If you're getting married when it's warm out and fancy doing something quite low key you could opt for a meal at the Cabana Bar & Beach Club at the Dolphin. I think it's really lovely to sit and have a drink there - the food is average but pleasant.

You could also opt Captain's Grille - I've not been but it offers lunch and looks lovely. There are also a number of places in Downtown Disney - Rainforest cafe, Raglan Road, Fulton's etc.

In all honesty though if it were me I think I would go to GF cafe on a lunchtime as I think it just 'fits' somehow, that is just my opinion though.

I was in the same situation a few weeks ago, haha. We wanted something affordable and on the Monorail loop (so I have an excuse to wear my wedding dress on it), so we booked the Grand Floridian Cafe.

:goodvibes We decided on the Grand Floridian Cafe also!!! I'm going to call tomorrow and get some info. Wish me luck!

Thanks for all your suggestions!! :thumbsup2
