Restaurant servers removing plates from the table before everyone is finished

I think the quick table clearing at a restaurant is simply for quick table turn around. Money, money, money.

I prefer them to take my plate away as soon as I am done eating, even if no one else at the table is done eating.

I've had actual nightmares about starving and having to eat mayo/ranch to live, so this is both cracking me up, and hoping I have a good night's sleep tonight.

MM, I am one who does not eat all of my food, and it is either then offered to my DH or my DS, or we want to take it home for later.
That is why I am really sensitive to the "Hurry and rush and take my plate/food away thing".
There really is no defense, Because, no matter the reason or intentions, it is rude to rush somebody sitting there at a meal. It just is.

The THREE SECOND PAUSE thing I mentioned is what is missing here.
This is what would solve any issues... Whether one wants their plate removed quickly, or not.
Every sit-down restaurant that has servers should tell/train them.

You don't just take a plate away, or grab for it before you even complete a two word sentence... ( "you done....")
The three second pause... "Do you need anything? Would you like dessert? Can I bring to-go box(es), or take your plate(s) for you?"

It really isn't rocket science!!!!

You must eat at weird restaurants. DH always finishes everything, so it’s always a joke when they ask if he’s finished (one of us usually says he’s not done, there is literally nothing on his plate). Then I ask them to take mine away, and wrap it up. I went out last night with friends, we closed the restaurant, and the waitress left our plates until the end (DH ate my leftover eggplant parm and linguine before midnight). They obviously wanted us out, it was almost 10 and they were setting tables, asked if we wanted dessert and coffee, but taking our plates didn’t happen until we asked for the check. It was odd.

You might want to check your reading comprehension...
1) There were posts made last week, none on Saturday or Sunday, then a bunch of posts yesterday. Only one of which was related to you.
2) The post never said you were weird. They said the restaurants must be weird. Personally, I agree. Earlier in the thread didn't you imply if not flat out say you are rushed nearly every time you go out to eat and you need to "guard" your plate? Now granted, we don't go out to eat that often, but I don't think I've ever had to guard my plate. The server might put their hand out as they say "may I take your plate", but a simple "no, I'm still eating" suffices.

I should not have to guard my plate until everyone is done!!!
Half the time, anymore, it seems like I feel like I have to guard my food.
You literally need to guard you darned food anymore.
They are like reaching across you, grabbing for your plate, before they finish even asking.

Yup, you got it! All those people who posted yesterday had absolutely nothing to do with this thread being back on the front page, giving people a chance to read it and consider posting (or continuing to post). Mjkacmom clearly has no life and was just biding her time since last week until today to respond to your post.
