Restaurant reviews and recipes...formerly Disney QOTD

I don't know what the town does.

I don't wear a costume, but I do have Halloween themed clothing. In fact, I'm wearing a tee shirt right now--it's orange & it says Happy Halloween & it's got pumpkins on it too. I'm also wearing my pumpkin earrings. I'll probably wear a Halloween shirt tomorrow when I'm handing out the candy.

That is a very nice arrangement.

Do you like zoos? Do you go to local ones?
What is your favorite animal to watch?

Yes, we have 2 zoos close and enjoy going, but happen been in some time. We would go to the National Zoo in Washington DC more often then the Baltimore Zoo since it's free and only have to pay for parking. Love watching the monkeys.

Does your town or area do trick-or-treating some other day than Halloween?
Are you dressing up? If so, pictures please (when the time comes).

Our area does trick-or-treating only on Halloween evening between 6-9pm. Since Halloween is on a Saturday evening, not sure how many kids we'll have, lots of parties going on that night. Parents would rather do parties than going house to house trick-or-treating with their kids.

No, I don't do the dress up thing. Never really enjoyed dressing up even when I was younger.

I asked about the town Trick or Treating because a friend in Ohio said they went ToT last night, they never have it on a weekend
I have been in 3 states and no matter what it is always on Halloween!! Not sure I would go along with a different date.

I am dressing up as Maleficent to hand out candy tomorrow.
I have been wearing Halloween shirts and socks (when needed) all week.

I was just complaining on facebook that ours is tonight. I can see if 10/31 was a Tuesday, but what's wrong with ToT on Sat? Tonight there's a football game, and a parade...so who's going to be home to ToT? Except us, :goodvibes

We had to lug home an Indiana Jones costume for DS9..I had to carry the hat on the plane so it didn't bend, had the machete, gun, and whip in my bags. The belt broke and now he says he'll just wear his Boba Fett costume from last year. :headache: DH14 likes to wear this mask that drips blood and scare the kids who come to the door. He's got this set up with walkie talkies this year to yell things at them from a bush. DS13 will go if a friend does, but he isn't as into it.

Its usually done the Sunday before Halloween here. This year, we got lucky and it was scheduled for Halloween. I like it better that way. :thumbsup2

Lynne nice pictures. :)

For some reason I thought your children were older. :confused3

Our development does trick or treat on the last Sat. of the month, so this is the first time since we moved here that it is actually on Halloween night.

Trick or Treat is 1-4, Trick or Trunk is 4-7, then they have a Halloween party at the civic assocation from 7-9

No I don't dress up, but I used to have an ornage t-shirt that said - this is my costume.

Tonight our town has a costume parade and the kids do some trick or treating in the grammar school.
Tomorrow is going to be an all day event. Saturday & weather almost hitting 70 degrees. I went to the store this morning to buy more bags of candy.

It's interesting to see all of the folks who do trick-or-treating on days other than Halloween. Where I live, it's always done on Halloween, no matter what day it falls on, or what the weather is like.

If it's nice out, DH and I will take DS out trick-or-treating for a bit. Should be fun! :thumbsup2

And, in Chicago, the weather can be nasty! Always done on Halloween tho, too!

DDs school has trunk and treat from 2-4. Before/after that, it's ToT all day and night long - IF she wants!

DD is dressing as a Camp Rock girl, in this costume: (hope this works!)

I will wear my Minnie Mouse witch hat ears that I got earlier this month for MNSSHP! :thumbsup2

OK, can I ask a small questions please. We don't really do Halloween in the UK. We certainly don't have organied community parties, and more often than not don't get any trick or treaters (maybe because of the location of our house though.) I do see a few kids going around trick or treating and their costumes are always halloween themed (witch, devil, zombie, wizard etc.) So for trick and treating in the USA do the kids not have to have these type of costumes, can they just wear any costume?

Yes, the costumes can be anything. It bothers me when the older (high school age) kids come trick or treating with no costume or not much of a costume at all. If they are still going door to door ToT then the least they can do is dress up in some kind of costume.

Its raining yet again :sad2: I don't expect trick or treaters this afternoon.

A lot of churches in this area are having Trunk or Treat.
I am almost wondering if with the swine flu scare if more parents will opt for that than going door to door.
We usually have roughly 80 kids, of all ages. And always on Halloween night, no matter what day.
Was the same in Nebraska and Indiana too, where we use to live.
It has been a balmy October for us -- except when Nancy's DH was here. :rotfl2:
No rain in sight and a high in the high 80's, almost 90's. Low is even 68.

Did you get a seasonal flu shot? Will you?
How about an H1N1 shot?
Do you know anyone that has or had H1N1?

Some years I get a flu shot, some not. Really do not notice that much difference either way.
The location I work in is having free flu shots next week, so I am signed up for that.
If I do get sick, I notice with a flu shot my resistance seems better, and I kick it a lot faster than those who do not.
When in the parks over the holidays I take extra precautions. If I pick something up, that's probably the place.
Around me, it seems the smokers are the ones who generally get really sick with an upper respiratory, or the occasional person who just prone to that anyway. I had a boss (non-smoker) who always had something whenever she would let herself get run down. The smokers hack anyway, even when they are not ill. During the flu season they are sick a lot.
The rest of us don't seem to have flu/upper respiratory problems worth mentioning, except maybe an irritated allergy some days.
Probably not worry so much about the H1N1. If I happen to be at a doctor's office and can get it, will. Otherwise probably not.
I do not know of anyone who has had H1N1. Really have not been around sick people for awhile.

We have all had the seasonal flu shot.

Haven't had the H1N1 available in our area yet. Thinking the kids will get that one.
