Restaurant reviews and recipes...formerly Disney QOTD

I was going to get the seasonal one when I get back.....never had one before.
I will ask about H1N1 then.
DH always gets the seasonal one since he has asthma. (free at work)
He has been on the road for 2 weeks and came home sick (yet again). Diagnosed with H1N1, so is home for a week  I just know I will get it now. I go home tomorrow. Wish me luck, but now I just know it will happen :(

Did you get a seasonal flu shot? Will you?
How about an H1N1 shot?
Do you know anyone that has or had H1N1?

I always get the kids the seasonal flu shot. I get them when I can-this year their ped's office offered them to parents, so I did. All 3 of mine have had/are getting over H1N1 already, but Nate will still get it as a booster since he has asthma. (Don't ask..it's confusing me, too, and I have a science background! ) Their ped's are only offering them to high risk kids.

Mike had it over Columbus day weekend. I had to take Jake to urgent care while at WDW (it's very easy, if anyone ever needs it!) and Nate got it last week. There were 120 kids out of their school one day. Most are over the fever part in 2-3 days. The cough lingers for weeks, tho. And Jake was back in the dr office with a sinus infection Wed. The dr said they're seeing a lot of secondary infections a week after the flu--pneumonia, bronchitis, strep, sinus, etc. But my friend's kids in Pgh had it and it knocked them out for 2 weeks. Different strains? Seasonal flu shot helping? :confused3

Ack......DH came home from WDW with a bad cold, so I imagine that lowered his already bad immune system and then flying around all that he did in those 2 weeks, really put him in the midst of things.
Guess he might be looking at secondary infections too as he is prone to sinus and lung problems anyway....oh boy :(

OT: Thought I would share this link for anyone interested (Disney Tasty Baker):

Looks cute.

I have been ordering form LTD for years. I think they also go under the name ABC, if anyone is familiar with that. Signing up sounds like you have to be a business. But I have just made up a business name and never had to show any proof of being a business. Don't even know why they go that route. :confused3

I even bought the Tink lighted pumpkin awhile back. That is my outdoor pumpkin this year. :wizard:

I haven't had the flu shot or the H1N1 shot. Being a teacher I will be eligable for the H1N1 in the 2nd round of vacinations (the 1st round is for medical staff here) but I won't be getting it. One of the good things about working with kids all day is that we do have a fairly healthy imune system and I very rarely get sick.

Oh I forgot to answer the other part of the question!
So far 3 children in my class have had H1N1, several more children in our school, my teaching assistants husband had it and my pregnant SIL currently has it (but luckily for her only a very mild case.)

I haven't had the seasonful flu shot this season, but DH and I were just talking about it the other day, and decided that we both should get the shot.

Not sure what we'll do with the H1N1 shot when it's available to us. My mother just ask her doctor the other day, if my father can come in and get his since he's been told that he's high risk. He's had a kidney tranplant and seems to catch everything that comes his direction. She was told that they have the shots but it's only for children and pregnant women at this point. They are very nervous that he'll catch the H1N1 flu before he can have the shot.

Don't know anyone personally that has had the H1N1 flu.

I guess they are stopping the testing for H1N1 and just treating people like they have it anyway.
And if someone is high risk, they need to get two doses or have it and then another dose to protect for the spring outbreak

starting this early......last non-Disney question for this trip

QOTD 11-1

How was Halloween? How many trick-or-treaters did you get? What did you pass out?
Did you go to any parties?

Be back later with our results.

Halloween was ok, we only had 12 trick or treaters.

I handed out fun dip, blow pops and mini oreos.

John and I are not party people.

We had 200+ kids. They were all very sweet & polite except for 3....
I can't imagine how many we would have had if it didn't rain off & on all day.

We were invited to 3 costume parties...one last weekend, 2 this weekend. I was thrilled when DH said he didn't want to go, I hate to dress up.
I'm watching Food Network Halloween cakes if anyone is interested, love the cake challenges!

Wow....we used to live in a neighborhood like that. I miss it. It was so much fun. We would get together with neighbors and make haunted garages and coffins and all kinds of fun things.

So far....and I think we are about over, we got about 35. Not bad for a new neighborhood with a lot of empty spaces.
No parties.
We gave out full size M&Ms, Snickers, Starburst and Skittles....those Costco packs. Pretty cheap. They were on a coupon so 30 bars were about $10.

I think we had about 20 all day. I was a bit disappointed, I thought we'd get more since it was a Saturday. The weather was OK most of the day, so that wasn't why. We had fun size Snickers & Milky Ways. I'll bring the extras into work, I have a candy bowl in my cubie.

I did take advantage of being inside most of the day--I made a turkey breast for dinner. It was so good. I also made mashed sweet potatoes, corn, steamed broccoli & cauliflower, green beans & a little bit of stuffing. And we'll have nice turkey for sandwiches & for dinner once next week.

And hey--don't forget to put your clocks back! An extra hour of sleep~yay!

We had our usual, just over 80.
I know roughly because I buy those boxes of small servings of Act I unpopped popcorn and they come 40 to a box.
I went over the two boxes I had plus probably another half dozen or so.
The first 30 also got a small snack size of gummy fruit snacks, Halloween theme.
After that, it was a popcorn and an assortment of chewy candy.
Had at least 4 who were not even dressed up. And these were not older kids. I would guess them to be 10 and under.
I asked one kid why no costume and he said he did not feel like it. I darn near said then I don't feel like giving you any candy either.
Next year I think I will come up with something like posting a sign that reads -- No Costume. No candy. Just a trick. And maybe find something trick-wise to give them. Like a coupon or a toothbrush. I would give coal, but I am afraid someone would try to eat it. :rotfl2:
Saw a lot of transformers this year.

The cooking sounds nice. We ate an early dinner at Macaroni Grill. That was yummy. :)

We ended up with 38.
Weather was perfect.
Nothing costume wise stood out.
One Mexcian family's were all dressed in beautiful home made dresses though.

Time doesn't change here in AZ......I need to remind DH to change it at home in WA so he pickes me up on time!!

As expected we didn't get any trick or treaters. We did get some fun size bars of Cadbury's chocolate in though, so I guess we will have to eat them. Or I could save them for our fireworks party next weekend when we have lots of family and friends coming over (November 5th is Guy Fawkes night in the UK so then and the weekend after that date we have bonfire and fireworks parties.)
