Restaurant reviews and recipes...formerly Disney QOTD

The longest we have waited is 30 minutes and that is the longest we would wait.

At Alton Towers here in England before fast pass was invented I waited 3 hours to ride the worlds 1st vertical drop rollercoaster on the day that it opened (12 years ago). By the time we got round to riding it I had timed the length of the ride, it was 11 seconds long!! I have since ridden it over 200 times and now there is never more than a 10 minute wait for it!! I learned my lesson since then!

Since we don't do the real popular rides, we never wait long. The longest wait John had was for Soarin (sp?) I think like 40 minutes, this past Feb.

He said he won't wait that long again, next time we will get there a little earlier and he will grab a fast pass.

Speaking of the dining plan ;) Do you use it? If so, which version? Do you like it?
Or do you use TIW?

We have tried the regular dinning plan and the quick service, like both but prefer the quick service as we don't do a lot of sit downs. Don't like being tied to a time we must eat. If we want a sit down we just show up and usually get seated pretty quickly and just pay OOP.

Ever since it has started we get the TIW card.
We usually get 2-3 trips on it and it pays itself off in one even with just the 2 of us. When 5 of us went it saved a ton of money.
I love that card.

I've only used the DDP when I got it for free, that was a few years ago. It was OK. I'm interested in the quick service plan, since I usually prefer to eat & go, like Heidi. I don't mind 1 or 2 sit downs especially if I'm doing one of the parties.

I've used the dining plan once. Didn't like it. I felt like I was constantly eating and that I had to eat to get my moneys worth. I much rather wing it. Do what I want when I want and that goes for eating too. I will make adr's for a couple places but that as structured as I want to be on vacation. :)

Yeah, you get obsessed with eating when you're on the plan. Like I mentioned the other day, I miss the days when you could go to a park & decide then where you were going to eat.

We have only used the dining plan once this year when we got it for free. We usually stay in a 2 bedroomed DVC unit so have a full kitchen so use that for breakfasts and some lunches. Then we prefer to eat our evening meals at the signature restaurants so next trip we probably won't use the dining plan, just pay out of pocket.

I have mixed feelings about the dining plan. Our family tends to be laid back, and do things as we go. I don't like the fact that you have to book TS reservations 3+ months in advance. If we were to use the dining plan for our trip to WDW in late Aug/2011 it would be the QSDP, as it's more flexible and more suitable to what our lifestye is like. Have a great day everyone!

back to 180 day booking ADRs again starting this month.

I love TS, so do at least one a day. But we stay pretty long and we are pretty laid back in our touring and I plan things really, really well ;)
Since we have been DVC we usually eat breakfast in the room....cereal and fruit. I don't cook on vacations though!! ;)

What is the TIW card?

TIW=Tables in Wonderland (formerly Disney Dining Experience).
It is a card that FL residents and AP holders can buy that gets 20% off almost all TS and several CS restaurants.....including alcohol.

Have you ever been stuck on a ride? Which one and for how long?

Yes, not for long, I believe it was the Peter Pan ride but not 100% sure, also the rock n rollercoaster, got all the way up to the entrance when they announce that there was issues and had to close down for a while, we came back later in the afternoon

What, for you, is the most boring ride?

It's a small world - I have riden it so many times I just pass it up now and move onto the next ride

What is the longest you have waited for a ride? Before fast pass and since fast pass.
What is the longest you are willing to wait for a ride?

I want to say about an hour - it was for test track - I couldn't get a FP since I already had one for another ride and my time hadn't come up in order to pick up another FP ticket. I've also had long waits for any of the roller coaster type rides

When I go to WDW with my sister and nieces we always get the basic dining plan. Love eating at the different restaurants and having most of it already paid for, still have to pay for the tip. My DH feels we have a kitchen so we can do our own cooking, so we cook when he's with me. Never gotten the TIW card since I'm not a AP holder.

Have you been to HDDR? What was your opionin?

Have you been to the Spirt of Aloha luau? What was your opinion?

Have you been to a Princess and Pirate party? Opinion?

Have you been to a dessert party? Opinion?

I've only gone to HDDR. I actually went twice! It's fun, corny & the food is OK.

My sister & her family went to the luau, they had fun. Dana got to go & hula since it was her birthday.

I've done HDDR twice....once with DH and once with BFF. It was okay.
We had great seats both times.....front and center (in fact exact same table).
Not sure I would do it again.

I have also done the luau twice....again once with DH and once with BFF.
It was fun too. I liked it better than HDDR (but I am not really into corny).
BFF did the hula. It was her choice for her birthday dinner.
I will do that one again......I think DS and DDIL want to do it next time we all go.

Haven't done Princess and Pirate. It started right after the birthday trip and then I was going to do it and it wasn't scheduled again.

We thought about doing the dessert party in Sept, but decided it would be too hot to be out that long. I would do it some other time of year.
I did do the Fantasmic dessert party at DLR in 2004 when it was on the balcony of the Gallery. Not sure I would do it now. And it was really tight quarters then.

I've been to the HDDR several times when I was a teenager years ago and once a couple of years ago. We had fun and the food was ok.

I went to the Spirit of Aloha Luau with my kids when they were in their younger years. We did the Luau when they had the characters doing the show, it was alot of fun and the kids loved it.

We did HDDR in 2002 and everybody enjoyed it. The kids really loved it. Now that they are older I'm not so sure it'd be the hit it was back then. :)
