Restaurant reviews and recipes...formerly Disney QOTD

I think for us California Grill and Victoria and Alberts

Any other suggestions?? We are always looking for new places.
This coming trip we are trying Paradis0 37 and Saana

I love California Grill, it is a must every time we go to WDW and DLRP (although they are both very different.) We ate there a few weeks ago for our anniversary and we were given a table right next to the window to watch Wishes, then a free desert and a free glass of champagne each!!

We ate at Sanaa on our trip too (the savanna overlook outside is really worth a look), we really liked it. We thought it quite funny that our server was from Birmingham, England. Birmingham is known in the UK for good Indian food. He was saying that they can tell the English folk as they don't ask questions about the menu, it is food we are used to!! They had our anniversary noted too and the came and sang us a traditional African wedding song and gave us a card signed by all the servers which was nice.

LOL....we are just getting a snack at Sanaa....going with Luv2Roam after shopping.

We got dessert and champagne for our anniversary too....at Sci Fi!! That was a real surprise.

I have wanted to try Sci Fi and we will be in Nov. We tried CP for the first time this past Feb.

When my DS was in the 6th grade(he's now 21!!!) he was doing a project on farming and the different ways our food is grown! So we took the "Behind the Seeds" tour at The Land at EPCOT when we were on April vacation. It was so interesting to see how the food for the resorts and restaurants are grown!!! It was great!! He got great pictures and materials he could use for his project!! We haven't done any other tours because the kids were not old enough to do them!! We have been thinking about it now though!! ;)
My DD has danced twice at the Galaxy Theater(unfortunately that theater has been torn down and now we will be dancing at a new area!) so that ment we were behind the scenes at the MK!! :cool1: it was AWESOME!!! :woohoo: We got to see where the parade floats were kept, some performers getting ready for their performances including the parade performers coming into work and we even got to talk to them!! And we even saw the big "Cheese" himself: Mickey Mouse!! He was preparing to go out the big wooden gate near the fire station on Main Street to greet his FANS!! The next day the girls got to do a workshop behind the scenes at EPCOT with a Disney choreographer and learned to do some of the dances that are done at MK performances. They even got to dance with Goofy!! It was great to be behind the scenes even if it was only for a few hours!! It is something these kids will remember forever!!! And so will us Moms that were lucky to be behind there with them!! ;) We will be there again this August!! We can't wait!!!:yay::sad2::rotfl:
Hope this is what you meant!!!:confused3:eek::rotfl:

What I meant was whatever you want it to mean ;)

We have been on:
AK: Backstage Safari

Epcot: Behind the Seeds x 2
Hidden Treasures Of World Showcase
Undiscovered Future World

MK:
Keys to the Kingdom x 2
Magic Behind the Steam Train

Not a tour: but at DHS....DH has done the Lunch with Imagineer (and is ready to do it again!)

Backstage Magic (DH x 2)

DLR:
Walk in Walt's Footsteps
Welcome to Disneyland

We love tours and try to do one every trip (unless something else big is happening).
Have loved them all.....(Trains, me not so much ;) )

We have done:
WDW: Backstage Magic
Backstage Safari
Epcot segway around the World Showcase (we want to do the off road segway one next trip!)

Disneyland: California Adventure segway tour
We also hired a VIP guide for the day who also did the Walk in Walts footsteps tour so although we didn't do that tour she told us lots of things from it and took us to some of the places on the tour (like the Club 33 lobby.)

Disneyland Paris: Disneyland Park tour.
Walt Disney Studios tour.
On our Paris tours we were the only ones on both tours so it was like a VIP tour.

We did the Backstage Magic Tour.

I also want to do the Yuletide Fantasy Tour.

Which reminds me. I was going to sign up for the Yuletide Tour!

We have taken:
Keys to the Kingdom
UnDISCOVERed Future World
Behind the Seeds (twice)
something about the Showcase (Hidden Treasures of World Showcase :confused3 )
I have taken a mini version of the Yuletide Tour
And the one with behind the scenes at AK
And a WONDERFUL :worship: tour of the Haunted Mansion before opening :wizard: :yay:
The Great Movie Ride
The backstage tour of American Idol Experience! :cool1:
DH also took the Segway tour in WS
Steam Train tour

And does Kim Possible in WS count? :lmao:

Think I may have listed them all.... :scratchin

They were all great. My least favorite was the Hidden WS. But that may have partly been our tour guide.

QOTD 9-8

What are your favorite type of souvenirs to buy?
What is your very favorite one that you own?

I love the antenna toppers, adding an ornament to my disney tree, always bring back a note pad that can be stuck on fridge. These are the things that I tend to get now that we go fairly often.

My all time favorite souvenir: a bright yellow fleece sweatshirt with an outline of Mickey's head in bright colors. I love this shirt and is my favorite go to in the cooler months. I bought that in Nov. 01 and still wear it. The secret would be that it has never hit the dryer. :lovestruc

I love antenna toppers too ::yes:: Always buy any new that are out when we are there.....they are getting so costly though. I need to find a new way to display them at the new house.
Also, of course, PINS!!
and I love kitchen things.
Also ornaments

My favorite is signed lithograph from the Panama crossing. It is hanging in my bedroom now, not sure where anything is going in the new house.

Since I started staying onsite, I like souvenirs with the resort name: t-shirts, ornaments, refrigerator magnets, refillable mugs. I always buy t-shirts with the year, t-shirts that show all 4 parks, refrigerator magnets.

My all time favorite souvenir was a t-shirt I bought last year: it's black with all the icons from the 4 parks in silver. The shirt was worth $32 but I paid $19 when they had the 40% off sale! I love it, it fits great, and it looks really cool. I'm really careful with that shirt--it gets washed inside out & I don't put it in the dryer--I want it to last a long time!

I buy a Christmas ornament every trip, hence the reason I didn't do the ornament exchange this time, running out of room.

I love everything I have so no one favorite.

LOL...Heidi. Doesn't stop me;)
I have enough ornaments for about 5 trees.....I do put up 2 trees.....well did :( and will again one day.
The great thing in the new house is that I can get a taller tree! :yay:

I buy Christmas Ornaments, antenna toppers, photo album with the year, salt & pepper shakers and cookie jars.

wow that's a lot of stuff... :rotfl: No wonder we come home broke! That's just what I buy.

DH buys a new pen set, and at least 1-2 coffee mugs/cups.

We also do pins, but I only buy one with the year on it, but DS buys LOTS! :thumbsup2 (and he shares with me!)

I don't know what my favorite is, probably my cookie jars.

My most prized Disney possession is a Beauty and the Beast snow globe that DS bought me from the Disney Store. It had been around $100 and he found it for $25 on clearance! :cool1: He gave it to me for my birthday a couple years ago! He is such a good kid!
