The restaurant review thread has been a little sluggish and I need a new fix. Can people visiting please do some reviews :flower3: please?? I promise I will reciprocate after my trip!!

There are lots o boards with copious reviews. I am pretty sure we are not allowed to link to other sites, though, so PM me if you want some recommendations.

We're at DL right now. My guys are having a bit of a sleepin as we only plan to start our day at CA when it opens.

Anyway, I have no pictures. What is the DL forum etiquette or SOP for dining reviews? I hate to add mine to the cool thread with pictures since I have none.:confused3

So far we've had lunch at Blue Bayou and Cafe Orleans. Dinners have been at the Trattoria and Ralph Brennan's. My son and I went to Chip n Dale's breakfast at Storyteller's while my husband went to a business breakfast. Yesterday we did a quick breakfast at La Brea's (sp) express or whatever it is. Today is Ariel's Grotto for lunch and Napa Rose for dinner if we're not too tired. All of our meals have been good to excellent. We finally tried the Monte Cristo both the ham and all cheese versions and we lived. ;) Really very tasty but oh so rich. Any questions, Twingle Mom or anyone else?

We plan to return to Cafe Orleans. They were trying out a new menu item that we loved. It is salmon on a bed of baby spinach and greens. It was wonderful!!!! The dressing was very light and ranks up among my favorites anywhere. I've never been a salmon lover but this converted me. We were also told that on Monday another new dish will be introduced..... ratouille. All part of Disney going to healthier menus. I think we're going back tomorrow for lunch and having lunch at Rancho on Monday. We've always loved Rancho even in the old days when it was back in the ranch area or whatever it was called before BTMRR.

BCV23, Glad you tried the cheese version, I loved it!! It is rich, I would say it almost tastes more like a dessert than anything!! But it's oh so good!!

Andrea

Thanks again, Andrea. I was trying to remember who recommended it. I ordered the new salmon salad and my DH ordered the cheese MC at Cafe Orleans and we were going to split. He shared one section of the sandwich (a big one though) and I shared most of the salmon but ate all the salad myself.;) Yum!

Was it also you that told me about Ralph Brennan's? We really enjoyed that meal as well. The popcorn shrimp were so tender and fresh and had a nice light batter. I also enjoyed the gumbo.

BCV ( You obviously are a person of taste and discrimination I also own at BCV) I love bananas Forster did you have it at Ralph's??? I was thinking about going to Ralphs just for the Bananas Foster. You have a son how old? Did he like Ariels?? I can't wait to hear about Napa Rose.

I don't know about the etiquette. I will take pictures when I go but I don't know to post them. Please keep the reviews coming, their great.

Don't you love BCV, TwingleMum?

Sadly we didn't make it to Napa Rose....again! We had planned on dining there when we were out here last year too. Oh, well we'll just have to come back.;)

As for Ariel's, this son is almost 25 but has Down's Syndrome. We had stopped going to character meals perhaps 12 years ago but when CRT lunch became a character meal we discovered how much he still loves the characters. So now I'll always try to get him to one even if it is just the two of us. But anyway, the princesses were fine. My son had the penne pasta which is in a creamy tomato sauce. My husband had a taste and said it was good. Our son loved it. My husband had the shrimp cobb salad which he enjoyed. The lettuce was different though....maybe endive. Sorry I can't recall. He enjoys all types of greens but would have preferred the traditional lettuce in this dish. I had the salmon BLT. I didn't care for it at all. I'm not a big salmon fan (except now for the salmon salad at Cafe Orleans:thumbsup2) and this piece tasted really fishy to me. The roll was too hard and the bacon too soft. The spicy sauce just didn't do it for me. So I would choose differently next time. Our son scarfed up my salmon though.

We did go back to Cafe Orleans for lunch today. Both my son and I had the salmon salad. It is just so good!!! Today the pecans were rolled in sugar and there were a few grapes in it as well...don't remember those the other day. The salmon is fresh, moist, flaky and delicious. All the flavors of the sald blend so well.

The Pomme Frites there are very good as well. They are tossed in parmesan, garlic and parsley. My DH rarely eats fries and he loved these...well we all did. It is a good sized basket with plenty for three of us. It is served with a tasty and slightly spicy remoulade but we also asked for ketchup for our son.

Oh, we didn't have the bananas foster at Ralph Brennan's...in fact no desserts at all. Sorry.

BCV~ Thanks for the Ariel answer. I think my boys will just have to deal with a Mommy pick on this one if its too girly for them ;) . I guess I'll just have to make the supreme sacrifice for my fellow Disers and go to Ralph's and try the Bananas Forster. Tough job but I'll have to do it.
