Restaurant recommendations

We are going November 2017 but it's never too early to think of Disney dining meals! We are there for 9 days and are only getting the quick service plan. There will be 6 of us and other than my son and I, everyone else is kind of picky and not very adventurous. They aren't spicy fans either. We are only doing 2 table service meals that trip. My husband turns 40 while there so for his birthday he wants Le Celliar. Steak, fries, and a Labatts beer is all the celebration he needs!!! Now the 2nd meal.....suggestions? Has to be a dinner. I was thinking of going back to Be Our Guest cause we all liked the steak there but that would be very expensive. Not off the list yet but just interested in other suggestions in case I'm not looking in the right places. Restaurant can be anywhere on property too.

Any particular reason why you are getting the quick service plan? In 2017, you don't get dessert so it will be almost impossible to break even, forget saving money. If it's a convience factor, just put the money on a gift card. For another sit down, I would suggest Via Napoli. I metro pizza there is $40 but gigantic. It fed my family of 6 last year with leftovers.

We didn't want to be tied down to sit down meals that's why. Wanted to eat when we were hungry and not have to plan around reservations. How did you find that out about desserts? Is there a link to what 2017 is going to offer? Perhaps we'll consider changing it if I had that info.

I love crunching DDP numbers! Let's see how the 2017 QS plan holds up..

$46.34 Cost of 2017 QS plan per adult per day
-17.99 Refillable mug that is included
- 8.00 Approx. cost of the 2 snacks that are included in the QS plan (I can easily spend $5 or more on a snack! A simple Mickey bar costs more than $4.)
-12.00 Approx. cost of a CS meal, and I'm not even including the drink that you get. Honestly, $12 is on the low end. It is easy to spend more.
-12.00 Approx. cost of the 2nd CS meal, not including the drink you get

While the price of the refillable mug doesn't come out of the total every day, you are receiving the benefits from it every day by not having to purchase drinks at your resort. If you like soft drinks/coffee/tea/hot chocolate, the refillable mug helps to make the DDP a good value and it makes a great souvenir.

I think the QS plan is totally worth the money!


And now onto your question:
Since you love a good steak, how about Kona? I have heard great things about it!

I prefer a Buffet for Dinner if I am already in a Park as it saves on time.

At a typical park table service restaurant, it takes time to get seated and get drink orders, followed by everyone deciding what to order, then waiting on the server to take orders, and finally waiting on food to be served. If you decide on deserts, then you again have to wait on the server to take orders followed by waiting on the deserts to be served. You also may have to wait on your ticket.
All that takes away from time you could be on attractions or viewing entertainment.

I recommend the following buffets for dinner if you are already in a park:

• Biergarten Restaurant: Epcot (Germany)
  
• Akershus Royal Banquet Hall: Epcot (Norway)
• Tusker House Restaurant: Animal Kingdom
  
• Liberty Tree Tavern: Magic Kingdom (served Family Style)

From my experience, typical table service at resort restaurants are quicker than the park restaurants.

It's not accurate to add 17.99/day for the mug. Even if you paid OOP for it comes out to $2/day. So let's go with your example. $12 is the average counter service meal, she said they are not adventurous so we are talking burgers and chicken nuggets. I think $12 is very accurate for that type of food. Then $3 for a drink. 2 Snacks at $5 each. That brings you to $42/day. That's 6 people, losing $4 everyday so $24/day times 9 days, that's $216!

but you aren't counting the value of the mug per day. How many sodas/teas/coffee/hot chocolates would you buy at the resorts each day? If you are a soda drinker, you would spend $2.99 plus tax OOP per large drink or $3 at a vending machine, thus increasing the value of your refillable mug investment which costs $2 per day. 2 sodas at the resort and you're breaking even.

Even breaking even, the convenience would still make it an attractive offer to me, but I realize that I don't speak for everyone.

When we use the DDP, I eek out every cent of value I can. It's part of the fun.

You can buy the mug OOP for $17.99. That's what I was saying, the OP could purchase the mug for everyone and still save a lot of money vs doing the plan.

My suggetions would include O'hana, Whispering Canyon, Hoop De Doo or House of Blues (Shrimp & Grits are awesome.)
