We are heading to HH next weekend and I am hoping to get some recommendations for restaurants that are NOT seafood specialties (I know not wanting fish on the coast!!!)

It is my birthday weekend so I am hoping for something nice but not stuffy fro dinner and a casual lunch place.

TIA

If you do want a dress-up dinner, Old Fort Pub is nice, and they have more than just fish. Kenny B's French Quarter and Signe's are non-seafood, casual lunch options. There's also "It's Greek to Me" if you like Greek food.I can't think of others offhand, since we're always looking for seafood at HHI.

I just thought of another place-the Bristish Open Pub in Wexford Village.

Hugo's at Wexford had a very nice early bird menu for dinner. For casual non-seafood go to Harold's Diner (very, very casual - good, fun and cheap) or Wild Wing Cafe!

I hate to say it, but we ended up at a couple of chains in HH (Outback & Carrabba's) during thanksgiving weekend. The counter service place (Signals) at the Beach House was nice. DW and I both made the comment that Disney HH could use a small full service restaurant for dinner. That way anyone that didn't want to leave property and was in a studio could stay. Just our $.02 worth. :surfweb:

There are many places that have fish but also have other things. Alexander's comes to mind and they have a great early bird. I'd echo the choices above to a degree. Sunset Grill is great and they have non fish options. Boathouse II was great but mostly local seafood. Another choice we went to for our anniversary this past July was Hemingway's I think it was at Palmetto Bay Marina. Their wasabi mashed potatoes were heavenly and not that spicy at all. The Old Fort Pub is very upscale and very good but we found it stuffy out last trip.

Here is the Hilton Head Dining Guide which many have seen as the book with all the menus in it, it is now online. They list a lot of places, menus, early bird and specials.

We had pizza at the brick oven cafe last trip and it was great as well. Too many places to list them all here and many we haven't yet tried.

Hugo's is run by the guy that was at Fitzgerald's. We didn't get there but really want to last trip. Fitzgerald's was our favorite place before it close. Another one I'd add and really close to DVC is Santa Fe.

Thanks everyone I am printing this out! We are so excited to visit HH even if it is off-season.

That's the problem with HH....so many places to eat, yet so few meals to be eaten.

For a casual lunch I really love Gruby's Deli. Great sandwiches in the style of a New York jewish deli. Plus, you can walk down a few doors down to Coldstone for dessert. :sunny:

Slakk - when you get back, please update us on your fav's!

Santa Fe cafe across the highway from shelter cove is my favorite - if you like southwestern it is the best. I'm already dreaming of eating there in June!

Also - there's a place called Charlie's (the last word is french and I can't remember it offhand) It used to be in the same plaza as Santa fe cafe but it moved down the highway a couple miles. It is non-touristy seafood place with lots of character. Haven't eaten there in awhile but it was great when we did.

We really liked San Miguels right there at Shelter Cove, last trip we made to HH. It's kind of funny, we live in central NC and get good seafood all the time (Calabash style). We've yet to find a seafood place at HH that is as good as any we have here. Our favorite, I guess is Hudsons but still we probably won't eat there next trip. Also, the place we really liked the best last trip was in Savannah - Mrs. Wilkes Boarding House. Country food, served family style. Just like the food my grandmother used to cook. Be prepared to stand in line though, if you go there. Also, over in Savannah, we really like the Shrimp Factory next to the river. The seafood stew there is delicious.

I am not sure of the specifics, but some jurisdictional powers of Hilton Head won't let a Disney restaurant serve after 5 pm. Don't know if this is same with other resorts or not. :confused3
